Long Review but worth the read! The only reason I gave a star was because Google requires that a star be selected before a review can be submitted.
April 30, 2024 I visited Moh B. Couture for a consultation to customize my daughter’s prom dress. We entered the building, and he arrived shortly after. My daughter tried on the store bought dress. He took measurements to lower the fabric that was under/behind the split. We also wanted a small custom arm piece which he confirmed was possible and he agreed to complete the service. He charged me in full , and I paid the entire balance before leaving. He said he’d have all alterations complete by May 18, 2024, and we could pick up the dress on this date. May 17, 2024, I text Mr. Mohammed to confirm the best arrival time. He ignored my text. I text again on May 18, 2024, at 9:17am asking what time we could arrive that day. At 10:50am, he text back stating “I’m sorry I was busy please excuse me. I will text you around 3pm.” At 3:12pm, I received a text message stating “Can you come Tuesday around 4pm if that’s possible” I immediately called to get some clarity. During the phone call he stated he was still waiting for fabric to be delivered so that the color of the added arm piece matches the dress precisely. Tuesday May 21, 2024, I text at 1:35pm confirming we’d arrive at 4pm for the final fitting/dress pickup, and he immediately replied stating “yes, you can come at 4pm.” We arrived at 4pm. My daughter tried on the dress. The custom arm piece was to small/tight, with thread that did NOT match the material, and the look of it was comparable to a ponytail scrunchie that was enlarged to fit over the shoulder. There was no real craftsmanship whatsoever. The under-split fabric had not been lowered, and the dress now had snags in the material where he’d inserted straight pins or safety pins. I asked about the split part, and he stated” he was busy and had a death/funeral to attend to”. Although empathetic (if he’s telling the truth), he forgot his prior explanation about the fabric not being delivered on time.
By this time, my daughter is crying and I’m at a loss. Prom is 2 weeks away. I explained to Mr. Mohammed we were not happy with the work etc, and requested a refund. (I got my money back 7 days later).
Fast forward a week or two. He came across my Instagram feed; I then visited his page, and he has my minor daughter (middle school age) on his Instagram page, using her for advertising and marketing. He posted this on May 17, 2024…the same day we were supposed to pick up the dress originally. Keep in mind he said he was busy, the fabric had not arrived, he had a death/funeral to attend, and can we come the following Tuesday, he forgot to lower the fabric at the split…. But he had to time to make this erroneous post.
My daughter’s face is clearly visible and the same split that I paid him to lower (so that her thigh isn’t exposed at her young age), is ALL exposed.
The caption on the reel/post reads as follows: Them: Show me your latest custom prom Dresses Us: (the real/post of my daughter and other)
I was in disbelief... he’s trying pass off our store-bought dress as his own work, and with no alterations…
On June 16, 2024, I immediately posted under the real/post asking him to remove the post. I stated my daughter is a minor, and never at any point did I sign any waivers nor consent to her being posted anywhere publicly.
He immediately blocked me from the page. I then asked a friend to go to the page and see if my daughter is still posted, and sure enough…. Her image is still on his page.
My friend then posted the same on my behalf under the post, and she was blocked as well.
The same day, June 17, 2024, I followed up via text message to his phone. This one was very lengthy, stating the facts above, and telling him consider this a ‘Cease and Desist”, of course he did not respond to the text message. Note, had to omit other issues due to character limit in Google Reviews. I have screenshots and real time pictures to corroborate everything I’ve...
Read moreLet's start with the fact that the person didn’t show up to the appointment... As the wedding planner for my sister's wedding, I booked appointments in advance especially considering we were all driving from 6+ hours away. If he was a little late, I would've been perfectly fine with that because even though that's bad for business, I understand how the traffic is and was the entire time we were there. I actually grew up near DC when I was younger so I also I understand from that. However, what made it even worse for business was the fact that nobody answered the door either time we knocked, but when we called, he asked when we had an appointment for and when I told him, his response was "really?!"... What I was confused about was the fact that I received a reminder text about the appointment about an hour or so before the appointment plus I had a confirmation when I first booked it, which you had to pay a $100 deposit. The reminder text also included a link in the event that I needed to make any changes to it and an appointment confirmation when I clicked on the link. So while on the phone, I didn't understand what was happening so I just wanted to cancel the appointment and get my deposit back and he said that he was just at Starbucks getting a coffee not too far from there and we could wait for him... Trying to be nice, we waited for 15 additional minutes and then we left. We were already ~5 minutes down the street when he called and asked where we were, but to add insult to injury, he basically said that we were supposed to let him know when we left. Ummm... no sir. So, now I'm just waiting to get my deposit back because I asked for it again and he said no problem while also saying a whole bunch else to I guess convince us to turn around and go back. We'll see if I get my money back and I will be sure to update this review after enough business days...
