So I proceeded to walk inside uptowner cafe on my day off from work because I love this place so much then I proceeded to walk to lorian she had on a red shirt today Friday 11th 2024 at 2:19pm and she did not give me eye contact because I was ready to order she then proceeds to look at me with a death stare mind you I am clearly racially profiled I had on a scarf because it's my day off I always tip the owners because they always look out for me when I am on my way to work but I like to come here on my days off as well. I had on regular clothes with sandals. So I tried to tell her my order because no one was there or telling her they order I was first in line. she waited til two people that were not my race African American female to walk up to tell me to go behind them and that there's a line so everyone got stuck including them because they can't believe they are witnessing lorian telling me to go behind them when there wasn't a line to begin with so they looked at me and I looked at them because I am just as shocked as them that lorian is at work with a bad attitude today. This is prime example that you don't judge a book by its cover because I can look ignorant all I want but I am far from it lol. So lorian proceeds to try and gas light me by taking the two couples before me anyway so I smiled and just stood there and the customers looked and said please go and I said no it's okay she wants you guys to be next. the customers said but you were in front of us and I said it's okay trust me. The customers felt bad that they went ahead of me so the customers tells the man behind her that I was next I didn't say nothing I just stood there and smiled and said it's okay please don't worry yourself. Lorian wanted me to act ignorant but I am not going to scoot down to lorian level cus I am actually having a good day today.. So then lorian hurried and took care three more Caucasians that walked in after me before proceeding to ask me how can I help you so then after the dysfunction that lorian caused went on I proceeded to asked for lorians name after I paid for my order and then I think Gloria or whatever her name is started mumbling rude comments and I asked for her name as well. Because they forgot I am the customer not their friends not their co workers I did nothing to them but been a customer and tried to add to the business by spending my money I am very sad that I was handled that way because I am not at work that's not right I did not feel good at all about this whole situation that happened to me for me to spend my hard earned money I knew they felt in the wrong because of how calm I was the whole transaction they got stuck but for literally two whole minutes before telling me lorian name they made me feels extremely uncomfortable and when you establish a business you suppose to make everyone feel welcomed not just Caucasians. She made me and three other customers feel extremely uncomfortable in that moment and even while she's behaving this way I felt bad for her because what's going on in your life for you to treat ppl like this based on their looks I always come here to spend top dollars on this business but not anymore thanks to lorian with the red shirt Oct...
Read more“I’ve been coming to this uptown sandwich shop for over five years and have always enjoyed the food, but the customer service has been consistently disappointing. During my recent visit, I addressed the issue directly with the manager and a kitchen employee, both of whom have often treated me with an unfriendly attitude. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel the manager took accountability, and I was left with a simple apology rather than any real acknowledgment of the recurring issue.
Good customer service and inclusivity are essential for a welcoming atmosphere, and it’s disheartening to see a lack of leadership and training in this area. I believe businesses thrive when employees are trained to treat every customer with kindness and respect. This isn’t just about my experience—it’s about creating an environment where all patrons feel valued and welcome.
I hope management will consider investing in customer service training to help improve the experience for everyone. Supporting businesses that truly prioritize kindness and respect makes a difference, and I would love to see this place grow in that direction.”
All the Latinas lady’s working the kitchen clearly are hating on me just for being fabulous and gorgeous, as a trans supermodel I have the power to make sis women feel insecure, is not my fault I am Young and beautiful that other women feel threatened, by me gorgeousness.
if this lady’s perhaps started putting effort to go the gym perhaps they can start feeling good inside out, mentally instead of acting in autopilot.
I understand that personal insecurities or frustrations may sometimes spill over into work, but customer service should always be about kindness and inclusion. I hope that management will consider offering training on respectful, positive customer interactions. Great service not only benefits customers but also creates a supportive environment for employees. We all deserve to feel good inside and out, and I look forward to the day when that’s the vibe...
Read moreThis was my favorite lunch deli across the street from my work for many years. They overcharged me $168.90 for a $16.89 lunch in May.
When I went back last week, then came back today to follow up on the displayed charge on my statement, the owner at first said he could not locate the charge (I had given him the date, my card info, and showed him his business name on my card statement).
The owner suggested I must have paid for a group or friends (No.) or it was a catering order (No.) --- I suggest we both would have remembered an order of 17-18 Uptowner sandwiches on a single order one afternoon in May a few weeks ago
Then he asked if I would like free drinks on my next nine lunch orders (No, REALLY!??)
I called my credit card issuer when I got back to work, and they reversed the charge of $152.01 which is the difference between what I probably should have been charged and what was actually placed on my credit card. (I don't begrudge paying for what I ordered, but not for the price that was taken.) - Ugh!
I hate to never-go-back because the sandwiches are awesome and the staff is great, but this was just a very very poor business decision, especially after I have been buying breakfasts lunches, and more here at least 2x per week for the past four years, including all through the pandemic.
My bill here has never been more than $20-25. It was embarassing to listen to an offer of free drinks with my upcoming purchases, and also insulting.
This shop does a very handsome business and there is always a line, so maybe I will simply be replaced by the next customer of many whom they serve.
Too bad, really. This made me pretty sad that they were so callous over what was probably just an honest mistake on their part.
I believe I was very low key and kind and offered my understanding about the mistake. To be offered some free drinks at their retail price to make up for it tho? - No way. :(
Sigh... One very loyal customer...
