Not at all happy overall with my experience. My rating is 1-1/2 stars, not 2... and that's for the fries 😐

I just wanted Wings, shrimp and fries - - wanted to place an order by phone and pick it up around 5:30 before it got busy. There was no way to reach someone directly by phone - no 'press zero' option. I had to go in.

Even though they have 'Add shrimp' as a menu option for Caesar salad, I could not add shrimp to my Charlie Parker basket.

The manager tried to mansplain why that was the case, but as with all mansplanations, it made no sense at all. He did agree to discuss it with the owners. 🤨

Lastly, the old menu is on the website with the price of $12 for what I wanted, and I had to twist the manager's arm to get him to honor that price. In the end, he gave me the $3 difference between what the register rang and what the online menu showed as the price, but having to twist his arm to honor the price dampened the experience.

What ruined the experience completely was that the wings were burnt. That's my fault though; I saw that before I left, but I didn't have any fight left in me. I had just finished an acupuncture treatment and was floating and didn't want to ruin my acupuncture high. I reasoned that maybe it was time to change the oil, but the wings would probably taste good.

Once I got home, I found the wings to be tolerable - - with hot sauce on them - - and the fries were as good as they've been on past visits.

Will I travel the distance for more of their wings? Nope, probably not. My acupuncturist gave me the name of two places that serve soul food. I think I'll try...

All the bartenders are fabulous. Anyone of them will provide service with a smile, drinks are well. They are attentive with you. The security needs better etiquette, not really customer friendly unless you're a regular. They changed the times for happy hour unfortunately. The hours were free by 7pm now it's 6pm. The cost goes up each hour after that. 1st & 3rd Fridays The Allure Bamd plays there. If you haven't heard of them or seen them. Please look them up, better than that check them out at The Tavern. Follow them on the social platforms. Tiny, lead female vocalist of Allure Bamd sings with EU featuring Sugar Bear as well. It's a nice chilled laid back lounge vibe where the grown people comes out to...

It was my first time visiting Takoma Station Tavern as I went to see Durand Bernarr's show last night and I loved it. I liked the decor and the separate functional spaces like the stage, dance floor, VIP (lounge areas), the bar, outdoors, stools, etc. It was creative to have the tavern/saloon style swing door in the bathrooms as well. The host Kamikaze along with the opening acts Ashlay the artist and Uncle Jojo (I loved them both and will be getting their music) confirmed that this is the place to be for people who love live music and soul. I plan to check out the Lyrics and Libations events on Wednesdays starting in October. I am looking forward to trying the chicken baskets and long...

A little salsa with my hamburger. I went on Sunday night for the live salsa band. The music was bumping but the crowd was more like a 60 & 70’s date night with very few salsa dancers. I had the cheeseburger and fries for $16, the burger was good and tastes like it was flame broiled the way a burger is supposed to taste, the fries were cold and average at best. It was a $15 cover to enter so everything included I was about $40 all in. If you’re a dancer you better go with friends to better enjoy the music and dance otherwise it could be an expensive out just to watch the band.

Wanted to hear some live music and found Takoma Station Tavern. Absolutely wonderful spot! It definitely has dive bar feels, but with a Cheers kind of vibe. It’s like a 2 minute walk from the Takoma Metro. I sat at the bar and the bar staff are absolutely phenomenal!! I had the honey -jerk chicken tenders and they were really good! The whole entire vibe/experience was awesome! I can’t wait to get back!

Small intimate dive bar with a calendar full of great live jazz. Just saw Marc Cary featuring trumpet great, Ingrid Jensen. Recently checked out bassist Corcoran a Holt with trumpeter Marquis Hill. They really feature the best of local national and international talent. The room is small enough that you can see and hear them from everywhere. The bar has good drinks, and the food is decent.
