I recently visited Grounded, and I have to say, it’s truly a special place. From the moment I stepped inside, it felt like I had walked into an oasis. The space is beautifully designed, with lush plants everywhere, creating an inviting and calming atmosphere. It is the kind of environment that instantly puts you at ease and makes you feel right at home.
The cafe portion of the shop is phenomenal. I have become a regular for their "Grounded Matcha" – it’s hands down one of the best lattes I have ever had. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and it is always a treat to grab a cup while soaking in the peaceful vibe of the space. Also, every time I have been the music is ALWAYS good! You might get some neo-soul, with some 90’s vibes and some current R&B. Don’t change that!
The wellness space is equally beautiful and well thought out, with a serene, tranquil design that encourages relaxation. I was really excited to see that they offer wellness classes, and I could not wait to try one. As someone who regularly turns to sound baths for recalibration, I was particularly looking forward to this experience. The instructor was great – knowledgeable and skilled with the instruments, creating a soothing, immersive environment. However, the soundproofing in the wellness space left much to be desired! It was difficult to fully center myself and sink into the sound bath because you could clearly hear the conversations happening in the cafe area. It was a little jarring and distracting, making it hard to fully engage in the session.
I understand that Grounded is a newer space, and I am hopeful that the soundproofing will be addressed in the future. As of now, I cannot see myself participating in any classes unless the cafe is closed during that time – which I understand would be an inconvenience to others who are there for coffee or plants. That said, I am optimistic that the experience will improve as they continue to refine the space, and I look forward to returning for the wellness component once the soundproofing is better.
Overall, Grounded is an amazing spot, and I highly recommend it for the beautiful ambiance, delicious matcha, and friendly staff. I’m excited to see how the wellness space evolves and hope to return when it’s a little...
Read moreMy wife and I have been attending yoga classes at Grounded in Anacostia since December, and we are so grateful to have found Aaron. It’s rare to find knowledgeable yoga instructors who are truly willing and able to work with all bodies and respect each person’s physical limits. It's even rarer to find an instructor who understands how to work with fat bodies in a way that feels empowering rather than discouraging.
Aaron’s deep knowledge of yoga and his commitment to making it accessible for everyBODY make his classes incredibly inclusive. He meets you where you are, helping you build a healthier relationship with your body without focusing on weight loss. Instead, the focus is on learning your body, moving safely, and improving from where you are — and that mindset makes all the difference.
My fat, older body is so appreciative. Since starting yoga with Aaron, I’ve gained flexibility and have seen a noticeable improvement in my blood sugar levels. Aaron’s classes have been a gift to both my physical health and my sense of self.
If you’re looking for a welcoming, knowledgeable, and truly inclusive yoga experience, I can’t recommend...
Read moreRight when you walk into this space you get hit with the most wonderful aroma of incense and burning sage (I wish I had asked what kind of smells they were) and I immediately felt relaxed. I love that it's also a plant shop and yoga studio, I only came in to try a matcha since I had seen high praise of their business from a tiktok and ended up staying to work on my computer for roughly an hour - they have a few tables on the lower floor and the relaxing atmosphere allowed me to get a lot of good quality work done :) As for my drink, I ordered a 16oz iced clove matcha with oat milk (the syrup was a bourbon vanilla with clove and then sprinkled with black pepper on top) and it was DELICIOUS! I paid $10 with tip for the drink and I wish I had ordered a second one on my way out but I prefer not to take open drinks on public transit and had to catch the train so I wasn't able to, but I will say that every time I make a day trip to D.C I will be stopping by Grounded, guaranteed. Everyone there is so so nice, honestly it's one of my favorite cafes I have ever been to if not Number 1 for me at this point, thank...
