I had a pretty horrible experience with the Dept. of Health, particularly with the licensing board. They do not return phone calls, are very rude when they do actually answer the phone, when you are waiting at the window to talk to someone they carry on side personal conversations and leave you waiting long times, they are very short with you, and give you attitude when you ask for more information. I don’t appreciate being talked down to when I’m trying to get my license here and I’m new to the District. Your laws and policies are very different here from anywhere else and they should recognize that and be more patient. I hope 🤞🏾 never have to deal with them again, but I know I will. Ugh!

You guys need to revoke Greg Harris food protection manager certificate.. clearly he needs to take that test again because he is discriminating against the Hispanic community… he also appears to be in the kitchen cooking without a shirt on… touching surfaces with gloves on… this is very unhygienic and poses a threat to overall consumer safety

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to shed light to my frustration. I have not received any updates regarding my license and I have receipts to prove that I have paid for everything that is stated in the instructions. I completed everything that was sent to me regarding deficiencies and submitted my fingerprints, back ground checks, etc. I’ve been submitting case reviews, no one seems to have some sense urgency regarding anything. Including the board of nursing.

I called today and I was greeted with a nasty attitude, only for her to tell that it was assigned by one person. I called that person, no answer, left VM. Got a call back from her only for her to tell me that she doesn’t do reinstatements. I called the number she gave me, and that number you can’t even leave a VM because his mailbox is not setup.

I have paid significant money to get this license. I have been working on this since End of November 2023. I am trying to be a good citizen by being patient, but it seems that there is no sense of urgency with trying to get a simple update! Why is this so difficult?

Please direct me to who I need to talk to?! Who can I escalate to?

Sincerely,

Dominique...

I called today after 1:30 pm to talk to someone about getting my license reinstated. I figured I had a better chance of getting someone on the phone after their walk-in time ended. After 32 minutes passed someone answered the phone. I told her I was happy to hear her voice answering the line( I was really full with joy). Last year I had the same miserable experiences that were in the previous reviews, but today was different. I spoke to the person and she gave me the name, number, and email of a person I needed to contact to resolve my issue. I reluctantly called the number. I thought she had passed me on to someone who would escort me into limbo. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when the person actually answered the phone. I was able to tell the individual what my issue was. She asked me a few questions and it was done. She got it resolved in less than 10 minutes. To God be the glory! Being pleasant, persistent, and patient yeilded a favorable outcome. I would have given 5 stars, but it took 32 minutes for the line to get answered so I...

Honestly, I think it may be due to the high volume of applicants the DOH licensing receives, but my experience was timely and efficient. All the representatives that I was in contact with have been direct, honest, and helpful on the phone with me, and I have called numerous of times. Specifically, I would like to thank Mr. Tyrell (sorry for the spelling if that is not incorrect). His customer service skills are professional and diligent. I received an email explaining that my background check/fingerprints were not done (they were completed before receiving email), relayed that information to Tyrell, and he explained not only will he check on that for me, but also would give me a call back before closing to let me know the status/updates concerning my license. My license was posted at the end of business day, that day. Thank you so much to Tyrell and the others that worked to make my license active in a timely manner.
