Based on my one experience, the overall rating I give Planet 13 is a 4/10 or 2/5 āļø Here’s a detailed review of my first and only experience at Planet 13 on 12/05/23. I have some positive and negative comments. I’ve been to at least 5 dispensaries within the last year. I only went to Planet 13 once, soon after they first opened. But despite the good things, a few things influenced me not to return. The first time, it was dark and I was unsure of where the entrance was located or whether it was both the entrance and exit. I parked. Then, I tried opening the door but it was locked. It seemed they closed a few minutes early. The next day, I returned. I walked around and was a bit confused by the drive thru because it didn’t even seem like an option, so I just walked inside. I enjoy studying cannabis on a scientific, medical, and spiritual level, so I believe that the large screen at Planet 13 is great for sharing terpene info (it’s a plus). The large screen allows the dispensary to stand out in that sense compared to about half the dispensaries I’ve been to. Overall, the place is very well designed as well. I actually only went to Planet 13 because they close the latest, so that’s a plus. I arrived within 5 minutes of closing and was greeted very well at the entrance. I actually enjoy collecting lighters with cool designs and there was a spin the wheel game with different prizes and I won a lighter and received a ticket to show at the counter. I thought that was pretty cool, certainly a unique experience. I attempted to preorder from home but was unable to. I suppose it’s because I tried within an hour of closing time. As I was logging in on the screen at Planet 13, I was asked by a very welcoming budtender if I needed assistance but I said no to him since I already knew the exact product I was interested in purchasing. As I was ordering on the screen I realized that even after I logged into my account, one product for this location wasn’t appearing anymore, and the other product had a higher price than the price I saw on my phone. But I knew they had a decent amount of flower / bud options and just a few pre roll options at the time. Due to the unexpected price I only purchased one product. I ordered and went to the counter. I was quickly attended by a thin white brunette who seemed extremely serious the entire time I was there, to the point that it became an awkward experience. This is coming from a very introverted individual who at least made some conversation. If you don’t enjoy working at the dispensary (customer service) why are you even there? The product label didn’t show terpene info. I know it’s rare, but I find it essential for products to have terpene and cannabinoid info in order to know what to expect. As someone who understands how the terpene profile influences the effects, I find the information essential for self medicating. It would also help stand out from other brands and dispensaries. But I usually just look up the lab reports and descriptions for specific products directly at the brand website. I received the free lighter, but later realized that I was charged $4 for it. The overall fee on the receipt didn’t match the fee on the screen. But at least I received a first time or a membership discount. I know at least half the dispensaries that I’ve been to offer those type of discounts, which is good, but in that sense Planet 13 doesn’t truly stand out. I purchased Lemon Bean by Cresco and the scent and overall quality were great, especially for productivity, mood lift, and fatigue relief. The main reasons I didn’t return: (1) there’s a dispensary twice as close to home as Planet 13 (2) was charged for the ā€œfreeā€lighter 3) inaccurate pricing (5) awkward service (6) little to no terpene profile description online (7) and few preroll options at the time

Messed up my online order I had already placed for a BOGO Canaworks edible. Offered a different product in place of one the bogo edibles to try something ā€œnewā€ and then charged me for it and didnt give me my ā€œget one freeā€ edibles. Will be sure to always double check my receipts. Even when they go over it at the end didnt seem super sure of what she was highlighting and I felt awkward so I left. Didnt realize any of this until after my 40min drive home.

Honest review.

The place looks nice inside. The spin wheel is a cool idea. Haven’t been to a dispensary that had that. And it seems to be a consistent thing so that could be another way to bring more people in. The staff was very friendly. The lines were moving pretty okay first day which is good for an opening. Minor issues here and there but still taken care of in a timely matter . Best they could I should say.

Here are the cons from the first day I went til now :

Prices are pretty high and/or compared to the other dispensaries with higher prices . And the discounts just okay . Enough to cover some tax . And only doing 15% for medical card holders. I want to use my experience to compare so maybe it will help ?

So far I am able to remain in budget which is $80: I am a medical card holder so I do get discounts . But the discounts are 25% and some days at one dispensary for example ivy hall I can get up to 35% because they give you an extra 10% off Monday thru Thursday opening hour and closing hour . So a regular priced item I usually get is 14 gram shake . Over at Ivy it will usually cause between $80-$125 but with discounts on a regular basis… I’m able to actually walk away with paying less then $65-55 most days I go in. And even if I wasn’t a medical holder , they offer once again the early bird special , they offer a variety of discounts everyday , loyalty points ( which I’m aware you have ) , but also other dispensaries use SSI as another form of discount as well. However , because I know you want to make profit, people won’t mind paying a bit a BIT extra IF there is variety. If short variety of certain products but yet charge higher then any other place on top of let’s say the product isn’t really perceived well , then people are going to be losing money vs at least walking out with something you can compromise the customer with . For example if you only have 2 selections for shake both are over $150++ and both aren’t really great quality due to customer reviews and that customer needs that product type then what will you offer ? If only two? Out here we also been need variety! We just wanna get our bang for our buck . Especially since Midwest specifically Illinois is EXTREMELY expensive. You have to understand from our view and not compare your state because it’s just not the same. Prices are truly spiking and we just don’t need another place to feel more like a bill vs something that’s supposed to relax them! Hopefully you’ll understand everything I’m saying . I’m also going based off other comments, others opinions from their visit from talking with friends and more so I took time from opening until today to really think about this! And also I’m aware you may see price brought up often but unfortunately due to many things happening in our state many are suffering bad and people just want at least one thing to be reachable for them to relax from all the stress! Hopefully you understand!ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Can’t wait to see what you guys do !

Oh P.s Anyone who wants to go please go if prices or anything else people discussed aren’t an issue ! It’s still a nice and warm welcoming place and very friendly! Their products so far I received a bong which was a free gift for the first 150 people opening day! , a lighter and 1 gram joint was great and once the store had more time to check things out I was definitely going to return. ! But I want to see what they can do for us !ā¤ļøā¤ļø so still...
