The 65th Waukegan Township High School Reunion Committee selected SpringHill Suites as the recommended hotel for out-of-town guests.. I tried to register through the website dealing with recordings and computer choices that confused me or seemed circular in their instructions. Added to the insult were inane recordings of wonderful services I was eventually going to get it i ever got through the electronic maze. In desperation I placed a call directly to the hotel where I reached a REAL LIVE HUMAN. (this was about 3 weeks ago. I cannot recall her name, but she took my registration information, promised to send me an e-mail and that was the end of it. No e-mail so I got to wondering if I had given her enough information for her to send me an e-mail.
so a few days before my scheduled stay, I called againl a person named Rhonda picked up the phone, put me on hold but fortunately Helpful Ellie picked up. It was all smooth sailing from that point onward. Ellie assured me that i already did have a reservation, she then sent me an e-mail confirmation and told me to look for her when i got to the hotel. I surely did and enjoyed her company when she served as my shuttle driver to the Bonnie Brook Golf Course -even though she had never driven there before. She was a gracious and safe driver as well as a good conversationalist. She also picked me up promptly at 9:00 p.m. Friday night after the first day of Reunion Activities concluded. Jimmy took care of the shuttle driving the following day. He was also pleasant, safe, and interesting. (Much more so than the recorded "corporate' messages on the web-site. I was surprised that no one else in the hotel wanted to be in the Fitness Room at 3:30 a.m., so I enjoyed the Ambiance myself. Both Saturday and Sunday mornings--good indoor bike ride. The breakfast offerings were quite adequate as well as very delicious.. I enjoy oatmeal with all of the supplements like sunflower seeds, raisins, brown sugar, dried cranberries, shaved almonds. Also a helpful person came from the kitchen and poured a bit of milk onto my oatmeal extravaganza. Then I ate some scrambled eggs with salsa and spinach leaves and a sprinkling of shredded cheese. plus two pieces of turkey sausage. And plenty of coffee and apple juice. Maybe also a croissant now that I think of it. The second day I enjoyed the Waffle Machine along with cut fruit and syrup. I would stay here again if need...
Read moreMy family and I stayed over the weekend at the Springhill Suites in the Waukegan/Gurnee IL area. The check-in was quick and easy but the I wish the front desk rep welcomed me as a Gold Elite member and reviewed the key benefits that comes with my stay. Also she didn't go over the specific request details that I put in during my reservation. I had to ask her in order to get the information. The room had a nice layout and we enjoyed the 2 queen beds and the separated living room with a couch. I think that is one of my favorite amenities of the room. So I am not sure why, but the trash bins don't have plastic trash bags in them and when you stay for longer than one night your room doesn't get refreshed so those trash bins get dirty and filled up fast. This needs to be addressed, the thin trash bags and have extra in the trash bins for longer stays. Also if the trash does get full, there should be instructions about where to put them in the morning or throughout the day so it can be picked up. There was another issue that I noticed and that was the seal on the shower door, it doesn't have one so when taking a shower if you glass door is slightly open the water would come out. There needs to be some kind of seal to be able to close the door properly so water doesn't come out of the shower. So we used the pool area Sunday morning and it didn't look clean from the night or day before. It would have been nice for the trash to be picked up and the floor to be rinsed with a hose. For the breakfast in the morning, overall we were happy with the breakfast but it would be nice to have turkey sausage for those that are kosher and stay away from pork. The scrambled eggs is always a winner for me. Suggestion, to avoid confusion and speed up the process of people getting their breakfast please put up ropes up or line guides that will allow people to know where the line starts and finishes. One going to the waffles and one going to the eggs and other items. People shouldn't sit around trying to figure out where the line is and then jump in front of others. Also early in the morning people are half a awake. One other thing I noticed that there was NO HALF N HALF available for the coffee. That has to be a must at the coffee station. The only available options was oat milk, skim milk and I think that was it. Also there needs to be at least 4 luggage racks available for people to use in...
Read moreFrom check-in to check-out everything exceeded my expectations! I stayed for the Navy graduation ( my boyfriend was graduating) I traveled alone which was super scary for me, I was greeted by front desk staff Evelyn who was pleasant! Most of all the general manger April, she wasn’t my first initial contact when booking this place to ask questions and truly put me at ease, the way someone talks to you on the phone can make a big difference if you want to book a hotel or not. These two employees make a fantastic duo! I cannot brag enough on them! Every morning I was greeted, Which ever so often that doesn’t happen in busy hotels! If I needed anything during my visit they both responded promptly!
In the times of covid-19 it’s been really hard to get good quality customer service however this right here really did let me know it still exists! Their training shows and they are the pure example of great quality Marriott employees.
Thank you so much for being so welcoming I enjoyed my whole stay and my new sailor boyfriend did too!!! #GoNavy I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially with these two workers working!
Now let’s get into the hotel room: if you are looking for a clean stay, this hotel is the one for you, the room offers a lot of space! Plus the room is very clean!
Because I went to the Navy graduation this hotel allowed us to hang out anchors up to show respect and celebrate our newest members of the greatest navy in the world! But please take note you must ask, so they can ensure the anchor will be hung properly and safely. This factor was awesome that they went above and beyond for that. They also offered a shuttle to graduation which was best route to take!
Breakfast: loved waking up in the morning and being able to grab breakfast, as soon as you would use a station April and Evelyn would be spot on and would come behind in a respectful manner and clean and sanitize everything that is considered “high touch” which meant this hotel is taking Covid-19 very seriously and it’s great to know that. You can still enjoy your vacation and be as safe as possible.
Check out: was very smooth APRIL AND EVELYN ARE THE BEST!!! Please keep them working!!! I would totally come back and so would my boyfriend! Thank you so much for taking care of the Navy families and our...
