IF YOU ARE BOOKING FOR PIR WEEKEND RUN AWAY!! The one thing I absolutely loved about this place was the location, it was literally across the street from Sarge’s Meet and Greet so it was so convenient. We had a Walmart, food options, and gas stations easily accessible and within walking distance. Not to mention it was a short 10 minute drive to the drill hall which made going to graduation and picking up my husband super quick and easy. Now the hotel is a bit dated which I was warned about and okay with, I knew this prior to booking. For us we needed hotel accommodations that allowed for us to have a separate room, kitchen, and sofa bed and this checked all the marks. I read all the reviews on expedia and everything seemed great! Price was on point as well so really what could go wrong. Our first night there it just went downhill. We had traveled from Dallas and took a 6 am flight and at 11:30 after we did all our room decorations we were exhausted and ready for bed. My sister in law was getting the sofa bed ready when she uncovered a sofa bed with no sheets, multiple urnine stains, and rat droppings. I called the front desk right away and asked for a new accommodations. After and hour of back and fourth of them saying they will clean it or move her the lady at the front desk came and showed my sister in law a studio next door and she decided to stay there. I had asked to also be moved because I was not comfortable staying there since I’m 30 weeks pregnantt and had my young daughter who had been playing and laying on that couch all day without knowing what was under it. I waited till 1:30 to get moved only to go to the front desk and see that she had gone home and the lady there had no idea what was going on. I was so defeated and exhausted. My daughter passed out jn the master bed and at that point i didn’t have a choice. Everywhere else that was close was booked for the weekend. They didn’t clean it up or even removed the soiled sofa bed mattress. The next morning, still nothing even after we came back from graduation. The general manager and assistant general manager didn’t even reach out to me, no apology, NOT A WORD. I tried to keep so calm because i really didn’t want to stress my husband out. I asked to get moved to another room and they finally got back to me and got us moved. Now the following day. They had kept us in the 2 rooms and the general manager stated that Thursday night was comped but we would have to pay for the room after that. At that point i just said okay because again everywhere else was booked. The next day on Friday an employee had knocked on my sister in laws room telling her she needed to vacate the room because our reservation had expired. The employee then proceeded to tell her that if she didn’t leave that she would kick her out herself. My sister in law was so upset and the employee and management again NEVER reached out to me regarding any of this. My sister in law came into my room to tell me what happened and I called them. This woman began to yell at me stating we needed to get out and that she had guest at the front and hung up on me. At this point i was livid. I came to the front and the treatment I got was absolutely ridiculous. Management was NO where to be found and the employee refused to give me their contact information. Sonestas corporate customer service was out for the weekend and I felt so defeated. I came back again to try and talk to her snd I told her to just charge me despite showing her our reservation was until Saturday. All in all it was a complete mess and I do not recommend anyone staying there. Now they won’t refund me double paying for friday and saturday and for the disgusting environment they had me stay in and again not even an apology. I honestly would have been happy with that but here we are ☹️

First will say this is a clean place, and if it weren’t for other issues I would recommend it. However, I called ahead of time before I booked and was told a completely different story then the day I arrived. 1)If you want to check in early….Even if the room is ready and there’s not a car in the parking lot, it’s a $55 early check in fee. (No matter if it’s 4 hours before or an hour) 2) they also charge you to park everyday you’re there, LOL even if the parking lot is empty. When we checked in and were really blown away about all the extra fees…. The nice enough guy told us that (yeaaa. They just had to bc they’re at full capacity) We had a navy anchor made for our son for his graduation from boot camp…and even the lady from Etsy that dropped it off sent me a message saying she just wanted to make sure we got it because the front desk was so rude and terrible… (completely third party, possibly a future guest… and was treated that way) not good lol. Some suggestions would be… for a business to succeed and really flourish, it’s important to realize how crucial word of mouth is. If someone asked me if I ever stayed here I would definitely emphasize all the messed up extra charges and things… and then lastly say the room was fine. To have the location, and the parking, and then really rob people left and right for everything… oh my. Not smart. I stay in ALOT of hotels. 99% of the time, I get right into the room, and do not pay parking. Here’s a picture of their parking lot at “full capacity” 😂😂 ** I also will say I usually don’t go out of my ways to write reviews unless they’re good.. but in this case, I wish I would’ve known these things ahead of time so maybe this will help others choose somewhere else** We also have a large part in the graduation process and are apart of many groups where people make suggestions and everything on where to stay, what to eat around, etc. and I will be letting all the groups know. When traveling from so far and the expenses already…. No one needs another random $100 taken.

Destiny who works the front desk was AMAZING with making my stay exceptional. This is actually a great place to stay for the price I paid, no pool... that was a bit of a bummer but ok, replaced pool with a quick trip to Lake Michigan which was like 7 minutes away. Rooms were nice, laundry facilities on site and a grill for use on a nice patio. Staff was swift about getting my tub right....it was backed up and I hate showering with my feet in water. They have a poop station for your dogs with poop bags and trash which is fabulous. The only reason I'm giving four stars is it's unfair to speak to paying customers about complaints regarding dog barking when you've paid to have your dogs stay. It is a pet friendly place so if you don't want to chance hearing a dog bark don't stay here. These complaints shouldn't even reach the guest who paid to be able to have their pet with them. No one should have to feel the need to muzzle their dog all day to keep other guests happy in what is supposed to be a pet friendly hotel and owners shouldn't have anxiety about leaving their pets for fear they are going to hear about another complaint for their dog being a dog! Nice place though for real whatever you pay it's worth it.

We stayed at this hotel when we went to our son's Navy bootcamp graduation. I booked a room for 4 nights, called the very next day and changed it to 3 nights but added another room for 3 nights and they charged me 10.00 more dollars a night. We had never been to Illinois but the hotel pictures looked great online. That was not the case when we arrived. It was old and outdated. The baseboards had been ripped off the walls down the hall. It looked bad. Honestly, I was embarrassed to bring our new Sailor to this hotel. Our room had salt all over the floor that hadn't been cleaned. The bathroom had hairs all over it. There were two shelves on the wall that were covered in hairs and had someone's fake eyelashes on one of them. The bathroom door wouldn't even shut and stay closed. There was a roll of toilet paper and that was 1/4 full. A recliner in the living room that wouldn't recline. My husband took a wash cloth and dusted the TV because everything was covered in dust. I went to the front desk to complain and they told us we needed to leave so they could clean the room. We had just driven ten hrs and were exhausted. We left to come back to the same mess we left minus the hairs on one shelf and the eye lashes. We did have a new roll of toilet paper. Also, when we checked in they changed us an extra 110.00 per room that they never bothered to mention when booking. Apparently that was Incase we wanted something from the vending machines. When my charge card was billed I was charged 18 extra dollars for one room. When I called the hotel I was told that was for parking in their parking lot. It was something new they started doing in Jan but they failed to mention that too. I called the hotel at 8:45 am and asked to speak the the manager. I was told she would be in at 9 and would call. I waited until 3:00 pm and called back and asked to speak to the manager, her name is Haley and I was put on hold. I waited ten mins and hung up and called back. Then I was told she was gone for the day. This hotel is a mess and a disaster! Stay as far away from it as you can. The hotel manager (Haley) doesn't even have the professionalism to call you back. That tells me she's used to all the complaints. I will NEVER recommend another Sonesta hotel to anyone nor will I ever stay at one again! If you're smart you...

If I could give less than 1 star I would.

I stayed for two nights with my family for my daughters Navy Bootcamp graduation. We had requested extra pillows at booking weeks in advance, and at check in were told the hotel was over booked and there were no extra pillows. Our bathroom only had one full size towel and three wash clothes (same issue overbooked and nothing extra). The bathroom is disgusting and poorly finished. There is no space in the bathroom for any toiletries, clothes or towels to be placed on. the sink is tiny and the tub fixtures were semi broken.

On our second night we came back to spend time with our daughter for a few precious hours, and at 5pm on a Friday night received a call from the front desk accusing us of making too much noise for the room below us. We were accused of having too many people in the room, little kids jumping around, etc. I explained that were were all sitting and talking, and occasionally walking around between couch and bathroom. The desk then claimed "two" rooms below us complained, which is tough to believe since the rooms are 1 bedroom with living room, and unlikely to stack over two rooms, or for two rooms to hear the same alleged noise disturbance. This desk then claimed that the guest downstairs deserve respect and quiet, and that they possibly sleep during the day versus at night. Essentially claiming that the guest downstairs were valued more then we were.

I have been a Platinum IHG rewards member for 10+ years, exclusively staying at branded hotels over others for trips ranging from a single night to several weeks at a time in a majority of states accross the country. This hotel was over booked primarily for the Navy bootcamp graduation, with large parties of families piling into rooms and celebrating. People are observed to be drinking and celebrating in the parking lots as well. The fact that I was singled out as an issue and that the desk immediately blamed and demanded I was causing an issue is appalling. I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a hotel.

I would strongly consider other hotels for your stay before this one for future bookings solely due to the hotel staff being ignorant and...
