Below I'll give a long winded version of the awesome service I was given here. For a short version: Monique, her son, and daughter went to huge lengths to make my wife's ring absolutely spectacular (we custom designed it together) and to help meet an urgent timeline for a proposal trip. I highly recommend them without any reservations and have done so to many friends and family who have bought engagement rings and other jewelry with similar experiences.

I came to Monique from the recommendation of an elated co-worker. She could not stop talking about the value of her diamond, the beauty of the design and the one-on-one service that she received here, so I had to check it out. I was more than happily surprised. Being a young guy about to propose, I knew nothing about diamonds or rings and was reluctant to go to trust Wedding Day Diamonds, Shane Co and Jared. I went to those places actually, but felt like I couldn't trust the sales associates there- I felt rushed and pushed to choose designs I didn't quite like and diamonds that I had no clue if they were good or not.

I ended up choosing a design that her brother had made in years past (jewelry and diamond knowledge of design and value truly runs in this family) and Monique had a wax version created for me to view before ordering the full ring. Upon seeing the wax version, I knew my wife wouldn't like it and felt sick about it. I was supposed to be proposing in five days on a camping trip, but it didn't look possible anymore. Monique pulled out some paper, listened to my thoughts on how it should be different, and together we drew the adjustments for the design.

On the day that we were leaving for this trip, Monique's son met me at my place of work to deliver the ring so that the surprise trip could go on as planned. I couldn't stop looking at the ring- it is the most unique piece of jewelry with the most brilliant diamond I have ever seen still to this day.

Monique, her son, and her daughter were so good to my wife and I and they continue to be as well. Cleaning and maintaining the quality of the rings is a breeze (I got a unique wedding band here as well), they know us by our first names and make us feel welcome.

October 2018 Update: Monique is still the best for customer service and by FAR the best prices. Don't go to the big box stores without going here! Monique helped custom design my 25th anniversary ring and can get anything from anywhere. She even takes care of our watches and rhodium plating of my other jewelry even though they are not expensive. True professionals with a down-home attitude.

When researching jewelers I was surprised to see so many people bragging up this place. I am suspicious of planted reviews but saw so many that seemed sincere on Angies List as well as other sites so I decided I had better include them as one of my six places to investigate. I'm a picky and detailed IT professional who never pays more than I have to for anything (airline tickets, furniture, clothing, you name it) and I don't gush over getting good service as I expect exceptional service.

I narrowed it down to two places to do my custom-designed ring and when Monique gave me the price, it was $1,000 less than the other one! The other place even made me ask for two reductions needing approvals from the owner to get that price, but Monique simply gave me her best price immediately. (I read that from other reviewers, but was suspicious.) She even gave me 40% more for my gold than two other places who advertise a bunch on tv. I also got great prices on the rhodium plating for my husband's and my original wedding rings and it was done perfectly and in just a couple of days.

I completely trust Monique and her family-owned business and will send my friends and family to see them when they need jewelry. Friendliness isn't on the top of my list when choosing goods & services, but I have to say that Monique is as genuine as other reviewers say she is.

Although it is a smaller shop than some of the big box retailers, my experience was that they will get you what you want from anything on the market and will give it to you at the best price right away without haggling. Monique worked with me for weeks to find the perfect engagement ring. I probably spoke with her on the phone 30 times before even meeting her in person. I finally got to visit the store (which is gorgeous) with my fiancee and were able to get our rings fitted. The store had actually been closed since it was a sunday, but Monique took the time out of her day to come meet with us exclusively. Monique is a wonderful business owner and pleasure to work with.

I highly recommend Monique and will continue to use her exclusively for any future jewelry endeavors!

UPDATE: Our wedding is in May, and we met with Monique once again, and per usual we had an amazing experience! We were able to trade in our 18k white gold engagement for a style that my fiance found much more appealing.. It was actually a platinum band with a curved design and held 1/3 carats of diamonds in the band. She took our old ring back and told us that she would personally solder on our main diamond to the side of the curve to create a completely one of a kind ring! She also did this at a price that would beat any other competitors by at least double! The ring turned out absolutely incredible and the best part is that her ring is completely unique to her!

She also gave us a $400 discount on my wedding band, which allowed me to get a much higher grade 18k yellow gold band that is absolutely beautiful! She also engraved it for free.

I highly recommend Monique to any person looking for the best customer service and the best quality of products! Monique is the real deal and I will always go to her for any future jewelry needs. Her quiet little shop in downtown Wayzata is so welcoming and quickly turned me off to ever even considering going to a large chain jewelry store!
