This was an excellent stop to see the wind turbine and the mural painted on each side. One side is memorial for Route 66, the other side is a memorial for the veterans. It's very windy and it is also known as Space City which you will find the traditional 66 sculpture in front. Definitely worth a stop to see everything else that is there including a park, a dog park, a patio with chairs to enjoy, restroom and a GaGa game for the kids. The wind turbine is impressive, beautiful and definitely a very large real life thing to see. We usually see them when they're up on top of the stands spinning in the distance. The memorial wall to the veterans is beautiful with the flags and the sculptures. It was interesting to read the information posted and I definitely learned things I did not know. Add this to your stop if you're on Route...
Read moreThis park is hands-down one of the best in Weatherford. The mural is beautiful, and there's a lovely memorial here as well.
The park is very well kept; you won't find many stickers here. I've never seen trash, glass, or any other kind of litter here. My son is too young for shoes, and I'm able to just let him crawl around in the grass here.
There's a playground, covered patio with swings (that usually has lights & music playing), and very clean restrooms.
The restrooms are small rooms rather than stalls, which makes it so much easier when I have to bring my toddler with me 😂
There's a nice dog park right across the alleyway, and a lovely restaurant right across the street. This has been, and always will be, one of my favorite parks, and IMO one of the best in...
Read moreWe came to Weatherford for the Stafford Air & Space Museum...but saw that they had a wind turbine Blane display in the town park. We were super surprised and delighted to see they also have (what I'd call) one of the largest Vietnam Veterans wall memorial, (maybe 1/2 size?) of the one in Washington DC. Also a great little Route 66 cabana with porch swings, a small service station and a sign post great for taking pictures. This little park was kind of the Cherry on Top of our short labor day getaway. Oh and thanks to the kind teenage town dog catcher for asking us f he could take our picture. I didn't get his name, but this town should consider him a...
