I spent a month (4 weeks) in Labor and Delivery because my water broke when I was 26 weeks pregnant. Also spent about 3 days on the 3rd floor after my baby was born at 30 weeks via Caesarean. After that, my son spent almost 2 months in the NICU. The doctors and nurses were all wonderful, my care as well as my son's was excellent. I was pretty much laid up and the days got long and depressing, I was full of worry for my baby and my family at home. The nurses were so nice and helpful, and never let on if I was becoming a pain. The only problem I had, and constantly, was with the food service people. After the third time messing up they just stopped even trying to apologize. I especially appreciated the care received from the nurses in L&D and the NICU. We were very well taken care of, the both of us, and my son who was born at 30 weeks and 2 days weighed in at 5lbs1oz in January. He's now a healthy and happy 18lb five month old. It was a hard and scary thing to go through, and it felt like something that would go on forever, but thanks to the doctors and nurses at WAMH, we were able to come out perfectly well and whole.

Long wait times, medical condition doesn’t take priority. Seems to be first come first serve. Rooms are really dirty with dried blood. Rooms seem never to be swept too often. Medical equipment seems not to be cleaned too often. Recommend not going to Aurora. Aurora used to be very good, but has gone down a steep decline in service.

Brother fell out of bed and was laying on the floor 4 hours, emergency button not working. His IV fell out and he was bleeding a lot. He had to walk out to get a nurse.

If I could go zero stars I would. I came in with some pain in my abdomen to the emergency room. I waited in agonizing pain for nearly 2 hours before being seen. Waiting periods for anything took minimum 2 hours. After being in the ER for 12+ hours i was moved to a room for overnight monitoring. I have been poked a dozen times (in 30+ hours) and an MRI, I have been told that the issue they thought I had wasn't showing up and they couldn't say what it was. I had zero pain for well over 12 hours as of 5am my 2nd day here and have not needed pain medication. I have an 8 week old baby who I am no longer able to lactate enough for because I have not been allowed to eat or drink. I was told by one Dr. Smith that he would get discharge papers going. I am still sitting here well over 3 hours later being told no doctor is willing to sign off. I can't leave AMA at risk of insurance not covering anything. My nurse has been nothing but helpful, bless her. I'm being told a Dr. Shaw is NOT answering pages or messages. I have been waiting and waiting, no doctor is making even an attempt to come and talk to me. My baby doesn't take a bottle and is exclusively breastfed. I am now not only starved myself but I am unable to feed my child. I feel nothing but a hostage. I am ready to go home but am not allowed. Dr. Taiwo won't sign off because it's "unchartered waters" as he has only been here a year. I have now left this hell of a hospital. The doctor flat out told me she was refusing to put through discharge papers and was trying to push me into doing more tests after I had said I'm done with medical tests and help. I was running around in circles trying to get people to talk to me and work with me. Communication is garbage here. My no food order was not going to be lifted because they still were pressuring me. I went 40+ hours without food. I eventually started eating what family brought me because the doctors were not listening to me. I left after I called MY insurance company and once I got the confirmation that my insurance benefits wouldn't change I left AMA because they wouldn't have let me leave at all. Unless I gave in to their wants for THEM and not what's in the best interest for me (But thats no guarantee). They will fear monger you into staying and complying with THEM so they can operate on you for the piece work pay (bonus pay for surgical procedures) at the end of the year. Hospitals are always for what fills their pockets. They will make you sick by starving you for 40+ hours so they can keep milking...

Husband stayed overnight and they had compression leg wraps on him. He wasn’t familiar with what they were supposed to do so he never asked about them. The CNA came in during the night to take temperature and she didn’t have any more temperature proper plastic covers in the box so my husband saw her scrounge a used one off the counter and then pretend she pulled it out of the box.

I noticed the cleanliness wasn’t like it used to be. The ER room he was in had hairballs and dried french fries on the floor. In his hospital room there was a sink inside and outside his bathroom. The one inside paper towels but there was no soap dispenser.

Hospitalist very nice, but had a very hard time understanding his English.

Discharge time needs improvement. Urologist PA came in at 9am and discharged my husband said he’s ready to leave. Urology PA tells my husband the urologist would like to have an x-ray done before the procedure in two weeks. And if my husband wanted to he could have it done while he was still at the hospital instead of having to come back. So that’s what he does. 30 minutes later they come in and take husband for x-ray. Now we wait and wait. 2 hrs later, still waiting. I go track down a nurse and she had no idea he was waiting. Nurse comes in and removes IV. We then wait some more. I track down nurse again and she tells us Hospitalist wants to wait and see the result of a the x-ray. Never mind you that this x-ray was just something in prep for the procedure my husband was having done in two weeks and the urologist didn’t need the hospitalist to look at it. We wait longer. I go ask for the nurses to page our urology PA. A little while longer nurse comes in the room I tell her we don’t want to wait for the results of the x-ray. Nurse advised us against it because we wound be leaving against medical advice and the insurance company could deny paying the medical bill. Getting more frustrated. Finally...

The only reason I can even possibly select one star is because of the nurses. They were wonderful. My mom was admitted for severe lower back pain. 12 days later she was sent home (by her request) with no resolution to the problem. An MRI was scheduled, but wasn't able to be done due to a complication with equipment she had in her spine. Instead of handling it the doctor & radiology did NOTHING for days including not notifying her children that they can't do the procedure or ask us for help regarding the equipment. I reached out to the medical equipment vendor and started the ball rolling. Again after we did what we needed to do to get the equipment straightened out radiology said no and again did not contact us. Every time we called her she was hysterical from pain and in 12 days only a few tests were done and pain management did nothing. Called the 'complaint department' (AKA risk) and the condescending woman that returned my call said she can't talk to me because my mom's POA wasn't active. She said they would speak to my mom, but never did. I made three calls to the social worker on her floor and was only called back once. The doctor only showed up for a minimum of 2 minutes a day until day 10 after my complaining. They finally agreed that she could go home and that she should go to St. Luke's or Froedert because they are more specialized in pain management and start the process all over again. Funny thing is she started at St. Luke's and after 6 hours in the ER they didn't have room and transported her to West Allis. Yesterday she went back to St. Luke's ER and waited 5 hours and left after being told she would have to wait at least 2 more hours. Went back today and was sent home, but not before some goof from physical therapy stopped by to show her some exercises to do. Be very careful sending your loved ones here. I feel bad for the nurses. They...
