I've been a parishioner since I was born in 1958. I grew up in the neighborhood and received my Baptism, made my first Holy Communion and Confirmation here. I also graduated from grammar school and high school at St. Stanislaus Kostka. It all started with the roots of my family on my Dad's side. My grandfather and grandmother lived across the street from Pulaski Park and raised their 7 children with a Catholic education. My dad was the youngest of them. I was married here on September 5, 1981. We lived just outside of the neighborhood and we attended Mass every Sunday morning as a young couple. My husband and I were blessed with one son and he was also baptized here. To this day we live 5 miles away from St. Stan's, but you will always see my husband and me at the 7:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Now not only does my son attend, but also my infant granddaughter, making her a fifth generation attendee. I hope that she continues with our parish and remains faithful to the Catholic faith. You might see me doing readings or see me and my husband doing the collections. We have been here with many different pastors, and I must say I have felt always welcomed here with each and every pastor and priest. Father Anthony Bus, who is the Pastor at this time, is a very humble, compassionate, and caring person. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a prospective Catholic church to call home to please come to St. Stanislaus Kostka. Trust me, you would always be welcomed. It might take some more time than usual to get to know you with this pandemic going on, but believe me, you will be welcomed within our community/congregation. The parish normally has many events that increase fellowship and community, but obviously these have been postponed until we find ourselves in a better public health situation. As I get older, I know that one day I will face my Final Rites and Catholic burial, and I cannot imagine that taking place anywhere else other than St. Stan's. This holy place opened and will close my life on this earth as a Catholic. So please, come join our parish community. As we're always told in the Gospel, Jesus says "let the children come to me". This also means adults too because we are all God's children. I look forward to seeing our parish continue to...
Read moreWhen one enters through the doors of St. Stanislaus Kostka , you can't help but feel that you are standing in a sacred space blessed and consecrated by the hand of God. It's what one might feel like when entering one of the many beautiful churches in Rome. I have been connected to the parish for the better part of 45 years, have seen the church and school go through many changes; I was even employed by the church for a short time. I have seen many pastors lead parishioners to Christ through the years, but the greatest shepherd to lead us, by far, has been Fr. Anthony "Tony" Bus. His love for Christ and the Blessed Mother is second to none. His delivery of the Gospel in the Liturgy leaves you wanting more. He is on fire for the Lord, desires only the best for the flock that he leads, and despite his own trials and tribulation, he continues to lead with the passion of Christ in his heart and the love of our most Sacred Virgin Mary mother of God. Because the doors of this most sacred place are open 24hrs a day, any weary soul is welcome to enter and worship with others at a regularly scheduled mass or in the dark of night to feel the power of love that the church exudes. "Ask, and it will be given to you ; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." These are the words of our Lord to us. I encourage and invite anyone and everyone to experience the sharing of the "good news" as can only be delivered by Father Tony. If you are a resident living near the parish of St Stanislaus Kostka, a visitor from out of town or from another country, the doors of St Stan's are open and ready to receive you. You will not be disappointed. Until then, God bless and keep you safe in your pursuits...
Read moreI grew up attending St. Stans as many of us call it. My family and I have known Father Anthony Bus aka Father Tony for over 30 years he is the ONLY priest I have ever known to have direct contact with Jesus Christ his Faith is so pure and strong his presence alone illuminates him he has that connection to the Lord you need to help you get your life back when your feeling lost or down. Father Tony has saved and changed many lives to be closer and have a relationship with Jesus Christ and to me that’s what it’s about. St Stans is the most beautiful church I’ve ever seen where the Lord definitely dwells in. A church can be fancy or not it’s what you feel when you walk inside that changes everything and I promise you, you will be changed and Blessed even after one visit and it’s all because of the strong and genuine Faith of Father Tony who brings the Lord here. I’ve never experienced the peace, love and comfort from any other Catholic Church anywhere like I do here at St. Stans. I moved to northern illinois now and only visit when I’m in the city but if you have access to St. Stans and Father Tony oh how fortunate and Blessed you truly are. Praise God 🙏🏼 We love you Father Tony God...
