It is incredibly rare to find somewhere that does not have a mandatory cover charge for entry, let alone allow you to affordably rent games from their massive demo library. Anyone who buys board games know they aint cheap, so its incredible that the store allows you to check out games so that you can essentially try before you buy. Esspecially when they only charge $3 to rent a small board game, $5 for a larger board game, or $20 a month for unlimited games to play. Whats even crazier is that the $3 or $5 cost isn't per player of said game, so if you have a group of five or larger pay to play with a bigger boardgame you can simply split the $5 between y'alls self's or take turns covering the cost.
I am so grateful to the store owner for his insane generosity.
I will say I've been coming weekly since at least Oct 2023. Up until recently, everyone who came in was incredibly respectful and grateful to freely play games. Unfortunately, in the past few weeks, there have been a handful of players coming in and messing up games, etc. Hence, the new pay to play policy, which is more than reasonable given recent events. It is so upseting to see such a beautiful place, being taken advantage of by entitled assholes. So, if you can't afford to spend $3-$5 dollars to support this incredible business,...
Read moreSpellbound is the sum of several stately, yet distinctly different, parts.
First and foremost, itâs owner-operator, Geo. Not only is Geo a genuinely uplifting gentleman, he also has a passion for professionalism. Be it fielding questions on anything from assorted gameplay strategies, to product recommendations, he puts forth nothing short of his best foot day in and out. Plus his commitment to the gaming community is abundantly apparent (last alliteration I promise đ). In other words, the closing hours are flexible so that in-progress games can run their course rather than be hurried along. Geoâs also gone out of his way to build a haven for niche games such as that of X-Wing, all of which creates an inviting and energetic atmosphere for the patrons old and new.
Secondly, Spellboundâs storefront (sorry not sorry): their location is a refurbished bike store, complete with original hardwood flooring, high vaulted ceilings, and bygone era ornamentation that could not make for a more ideal game day destination.
Whether youâre in the mood to just browse, or are actively seeking likeminded individuals, SBG has it...
Read morePlayed a championship here today for Disney Lorcana. The place is fine, and the people are good. But I donât understand how they donât even Distribute participation pack. I have been to others and they hand out promos and packs to everyone. The event staff would also mention rewards before the event starts so there is no confusion. Assuming everyone knows everything clearly shows how much the owner cares for their customers.
Clearly owner does not reward well. Why would people want to return and invest time and money when the location does not reward or the players as other locations. I apologize if this sounds bad but I go to 4 different locals and all treat everyone better than this.
There are options people. You deserve better. Instead of taking feedback and acknowledging why deflect.
Last piece maybe donât belittle your own employees in front of the customers. Your tone and the way you talk to her was very unprofessional. I donât know why she puts up with that attitude.
There are many other locations for future set championships and I donât...
