I live by O'hare but shop at the North Ave HD for the better selection. Basement flooded on Saturday so need to redo everything. Decided to shop stores immediately to take advantage of Labor Day Sales. We asked a ton of questions to an appliance employee named Earnest yesterday. We received knowledgeable & excellent customer service on counter depth fridges, drawer microwaves & drawer dishwashers.

There was a samsung fridge that only rated a 3.5 stars that had a few questionable reviews around ice maker issues. Earnest mentioned a class action lawsuit started last year regarding that issue. Another model he explained there have been several issues with the new condenser the company went to. I looked it up and yes there were several 1 star reviews at various stores regarding condenser repair issues. He told us about a GE model that they didn't have on the sales floor but did online that was the same as the full size on the sales floor except for the depth.

On the drawer dishwasher he explained only 1 company was still making them, Fisher & Paykel. From what he's read the product has really gotten better & worked out the kinks. HD doesn't sell it so he pulled up the ABT website and suggested them if I didn't want a traditional dishwasher which he also showed us.

The final was the info on the built in drawer microwave and how sharp makes them all. Then brands them for other companies. He didn't have one to show us since they don't sell many, however said there were a few models on the HD website & said he knew that ABT had them on their sales floor to look at since I wanted the drawer dishwasher.

I remarked about the training HD gives their employees. He said they do give training, however he also reads consumer reports and online reviews from his store & competitors to stay up informed. Earnest clearly went above & beyond to make himself knowledgeable about all appliances whether or not HD was selling them. We had a 10% off Lowes coupon and he accepted it. We bought the fridge from Earnest & then went to ABT to get the microwave & dishwasher which were both on display. I have huge respect and will steer my business to any company or employee that is willing to suggest a competitor to make a customer happy. ...

I dealt more with the online customer support, but the store wasn't helpful either. Worst experience I've EVER had with a retailer. Go to Lowe's!

“More Saving. More Doing.” Yeah, NOT for me. I wasted over 5 hours of my life on the phone with their extremely SLOW customer support. My order was simple; a washer and a dryer. I just had to switch the order from an electric dryer to a gas dryer. This was an absolute nightmare. It was rocket science for their support team and they managed to cancel my entire washer order while doing it. I was tossed around to several different “departments” because no one person was able to handle the issue single handedly. Their systems are SO slow. I believe their computers crashed 3 times during my 5 hour call duration with them. They encourage you to apply for the credit card online and CLAIM that you can place an order the same day. No, you can’t, unless, you have all the time in the world to wait on the phone while they place your order manually. Also, the delivery hours are extremely inconvenient. Like many high-rises in the city, my building closes the loading docks after 4:00. Home Depot was not willing to make ANY exceptions with the delivery time, even though anytime from 8:00-4:00 would have been perfectly fine (that’s a very large window)! I’ve always liked Lowe’s better, but thought I’d give them a chance for this purchase. Never again. Home Depot: Update your archaic systems and get your act together. I have absolutely no confidence that my order will be correct on Saturday, if I am even able to accept it. Sure we will probably end up with a...

(I apologize in advance if i spell the name wrong)

I am giving this home depot 5 stars today because Darius helped me. He helped me find the insulation I was looking for. There wasn't enough on the floor so he found someone to get more from stock. I will be coming back for more in the near future and I really do hope I get the same help from other workers at this location. Thank you and please give him a raise ASAP!

Update: I'm leaving my 5 star review because there were about 5-6 great workers who helped me, but there was one that made a scene over $20 worth of material I wanted to return and I wanted to buy something else that was worth roughly $30.

I bought over $1400 worth of material that day, rented a flatbed truck and made multiple trips to this home depot (which is farther from my home than other HD's). After she explained to me that she couldn't make the return I told her multiple times it was ok, but she kept trying to explain to me how she couldn't make the return. I understood, so I said: "it's ok". I don't know why, but she kept going. She asked me who helped me and I told her who it was. They settled everything within seconds, I finally got a refund. When I asked if I could purchase the other materials I had, she said I had to go to the other register. Sigh.... everything was going so smoothly too. I don't know what I did wrong to upset this lady. I'm still coming back to this HD, but will try to avoid this...

VERIFIED PURCHASE. Waited at 6 PM today at the Customer Service desk since the Pro Service Desk closes at 6 PM, we have a pro account with Home Depot, I was told by multiple employess that they could not do a phone sale, I called my boss and he called our companys Pro Service Representative, that was when I was told Cory, the Assistant Store manager would take care of me. I waited 15 min until I asked an employee to page Cory, when Cory came he was clueless of what I was told by Jole Galvez, the Pro Service Rep. Cory then allowed the employess to do a phone sale for me. I walked into Home Depot at 5:30PM, did not leave until 7:15PM. Terrible evening service. And we work with Home Depot on a consistent basis, this is a very unproffessional and inconvenient situation that happens often at the North Ave. Store. Tool Rental and Pro Service Desk are consistently a great service aside from the Customer Service Center.

This was my trip for faux blinds. I walked in with measurements in hand; ready to go. I asked a friendly young lady name Bianca to give me a hand. She began to help and was later covered by another friendly and very helpful employee named Bernardo. They were both helpful and explained the factory sizing before they got my approval to proceed with the cutting. They were perfectly cut and fit like a glove when I installed them later that evening. The only recommendation that I would make is that the department manager affix a measuring tape near the blind cutter as it took them about the same amount of time to find a measuring tape in the store as it did to measure and cut my blinds and get me going. These two associates were much friendlier than the associates at Elston Ave. Thank you Bernardo and Bianca!!
