We ate dinner here Saturday Nov 16th, and I was so looking forward to it. I had high hopes that the Pub just did not live up to. I had finally convinced my wife to go here while we had friends visiting from out of town, and I ordered the 'smash' burger that I had seen all over social media. Unfortunately, it seemed like it was pressed with a mold or perhaps was a frozen patty. It looked nothing like I had seen in any of the photos (no smashed or lacy edges, with only a slight sear on the rim of a perfectly round patty that was bubbled up and gray in the center). As the patties were both perfectly formed and round, I'm guessing they were trying to use a burger mold/press for expediency; I just wish my burger was not the one they decided to experiment with as it was not similar to what was advertised. Unfortunately, the result was a slightly better McDonald's style burger (everyone at the table agreed with that take) but priced at $18. đ It's really sad as the beer is still great and some of the other food was really good (chicken sandwich and fish & chips đđť). The service was a bit off, and we waited quite a while at times. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this unless it improves from our experience. It's too bad as I really wanted it to shine after hearing good things back when it first opened. I may come back to give it another...
Read moreWe love Goose Island and weâre excited to return to their Salt Shed Location for their Maifest celebration. We were here on St. Patrickâs Day early worried theyâd get busy and sell out but it hadnât been busy at all today. So we decided to go around 3 PM (4 hours after opening) and after ordering our first round Maibock in their lovely take home souvenir steins with $1 refills, they were completely out of Maibock. We didnât even get 1 refill. Though disappointed we opted to order a couple other beers⌠their berliner weisse & their pucker up sour. To our dismay they ALSO ran out of the sour! For a big operation, it seemed poor planning to us. They did so much advertising for the event youâd think theyâd have a larger supply. Never the less, we enjoyed the beers we did have. We also ordered food. Service was great and the location on the river was delightful, especially with the beautiful weather we had. Even with the low stock and not getting to enjoy the day as we initially planned, weâd still go back but stick to going on the...
Read moreOur service was amazing and the beers were great. I'd love to be able to buy Patio on the regular! However, in the year of 2024 you should have a standalone brunch item that's vegetarian friendly. I was surprised in part because the old brewpub was always ahead of the game on this!
We went for brunch this weekend and no brunch item appeared to be vegetarian on its face. There was a spicy coleslaw and a Tuscan kale and white bean soup for lunch, but no breakfast. My vegetarian friend asked the server and he kindly pointed to two items that could be made veggie but weren't marked on the menu. Again, it's 2024 and this is Chicago. And, brunch is one of the easiest things to offer a vegetarian option with. A veggie omelette is basic!
Also, while my burrito was delicious, the cilantro on it was yellow and/or limp. This was their first brunch weekend, so I'd give them some time to work out the menu and maybe expand the options. Again, the team and space were great. However, we are also there...
