Oh the Exit, this place has been going for years. Not for the faint of heart, this old school club/dive bar is still going strong after 30 years. Nothing fancy here but they do have some decent craft beers on tap. Dance the night away listening to Danzig, Nine Inch Nails, Misfits, they might throw in some old school industrial, metal, or punk rock. They have all kinds of happenings upstairs, from blacklight parties to S&M nights, a few weeks ago we checked out one of their bondage parties. I love this place and I hope it rocks on for another 30 years.

Great music and drinks. The serving staff has always been excellent and they always draw a good crowd for any event. Best night is Thursday Bondage a Go Go, but at any time you can go there and find something interesting!

Sticky floors, expensive drinks, and loud music: the three components of any good Chicago bar. I love the dark industrial/metal music playing downstairs. Might as well play some pool while you're there.

Michael Trouche is incredibly knowledgeable about his city. He limits his walking tours to 20 people and winds up and down small streets and little alley ways talking about history, architecture the people - the who, what, when, where and why. His tour is not memorized it is part of who he is. If you have a question, ask him! His knowledge about Charleston and American History is so deep and wide, he will give you a complete answer and never bore you with unnecessary information. His tour is a perfect pace. We looked in numerous shops for a book that would not be all pictures and would not be all history. Michael wrote the perfect book for us - Charleston - Then and Now. But, he didn't tell us about it! We had to learn about it from the fine ladies at the Historical Association gift shop. If you've ever enjoyed listening to Rick Steves talk about a city - Michael Trouche is the Rick Steves equivalent...

I was really happy to hear that they were closing. Here's hoping they never get it open again. I can confirm what some of these other one star reviews have said. A few years back I lost my phone and wallet at the downstairs bar. Instead of helping me find it, they cursed at me for asking them about it, and then kicked me out. I kid you not.

I'm pretty sure one of the bartenders stole it. Not only because it was two bartenders and a security guard who kicked me out after I asked for help finding my items, but because my items MYSTERIOUSLY RESURFACED a week later after I'd called the police on them and threatened litigation.

On a separate note, the cover to get upstairs was never worth it and the DJs were trash. Not only were they trash, but they'll curse you out if you request a song. Zero professionalism, crime, and dirty bathrooms....

I went there last Saturday night and paid $10 to go upstairs. It was dead so my friend and I went back downstairs to ask for our money back so we can go somewhere else. The bouncer kept refusing to give our money back even though we were only there for 5 minutes. He told us it would be another 2 hours before it would start picking up, but we didn't want to waste our time. We asked for a manager and he never called for one and was only on his phone trying to ignore us. We spent more time asking for a manager than we spent upstairs. Then he eventually told us he will give us back $5 each. I was highly dissatisfied with the customer service that night. This place looks cool, and it seems like it could be fun. However, based on my experience that night I'm giving it the lowest rating. Paying $10 to walk up and down the stairs...
