The Warehouse — Attraction in West Chicago Township

I really miss the grand opening of the Power House at 2210 S. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL in late 1987. The Power House open shortly after the Music Box at that same location closed, witch was the last & final place for the Music Box. I remember Ron Hardy putting some Christmas lights that stayed on the building in the shape of a box to let us know where the Music box was since they moved from 326. The only place that opened at 12 midnight and closed whenever Ron Felt like turning in the lights....

The city of Chicago shouldve been tripping over itself to buy, save and preserve what is and will be an iconic landmark for generations to come. Politicians are too old to care and the yuppies that will live in the neighborhood for a couple of years (but get the aldermans ear) keep preventing the place from being reincarnated into its true form. Your never know what you got til its gone but house music will never...

The memories of this place are still in my heart! Didn't even know about house music till I went there. Over 40 years later, I still love the music. There's nothing like it. New York had Studio 54, but we had The Warehouse. I'd take it any day over 54! This was a rave before anyone ever...
