Beggar's Pizza gave me food poisoning, with a taco pizza that was incorrectly made to begin with (no underlying cheese or sauce). I had to throw it out. I used their complaint system on their website and received this response a whole 2 weeks later. Very poor "HR generalist". Told me I'm wrong, and did nothing for me. As if no one gets sick off 1 of 30 pizzas. And claims I had to reach out the same night (that I was puking) to make it right, I wasn't about to risk retaliation in the food industry. That's why I used their website. This Susan Garetto has no idea how a business is built or treat customers, needs less entitlement and more life experience, as this business is clearly in bad hands. No response is better than this response as they took nearly $32 of my money (+ medication), made the pizza wrong, and gave me food poisoning. A more appropriate response would have prevented this review.
"Good Afternoon Mr. Kinney, Thank you for reaching out to us at Beggars Pizza. We are very sorry it took so long to respond, however we did a full investigation into this matter. We take all comments seriously. We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your taco pizza. We did speak with the store manager, and they did not receive a complaint call from you in regards to this. They would have been happy to assist in this matter on February 26th. As far as your illness, we hope that you are feeling better. We sold many taco pizzas this day, and there were no other incidences reported of any illnesses. We have strict food and sanitation guidelines that we follow. However, we do appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Our store manager, and staff have all been spoken to in regards to this. If you have any other questions please feel free to let me know. Have a wonderful week.
Kind Regards, Susan Garetto HR...
Read moreI stopped by Beggars Pizza in the West Loop for a quick meal, and I’m glad I did! I grabbed a slice of their pepperoni pizza, and it was exactly what I needed. The first bite reminded me why classic pizza is such a crowd pleaser. The crust was just right—crispy along the edges yet soft and slightly chewy on the inside, offering a perfect base for all the toppings.
The pepperoni had a great balance of smoky, savory, and slightly spicy flavors. It wasn’t overly greasy, and each slice of pepperoni had those crispy, curled edges that make it extra enjoyable. The cheese was plentiful and melted perfectly, creating that classic stringy pull you hope for in a good pizza. It had a creamy texture and a mild, slightly tangy flavor that paired well with the bold pepperoni.
The sauce tied everything together. It was rich and flavorful, with a noticeable hint of garlic and oregano that gave it depth. It wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated it struck that ideal balance of acidity and savory notes that made each bite feel satisfying.
What stood out most was how fresh everything tasted. The crust had that unmistakable freshly-baked flavor, the cheese felt high quality, and the sauce didn’t taste like it came out of a can. This slice wasn’t trying to reinvent pizza, instead, it delivered on the basics in the best way possible.
For anyone in the area looking for a quick, no-fuss bite that doesn’t compromise on flavor, Beggars Pizza is a fantastic option. Whether you're grabbing a single slice or sitting down for a full meal, the pizza here really delivers on taste. I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreOrder through DoorDash from the Clinton Street location. Pizza arrived late, was cold, the driver was extremely rude and claimed through the app that she couldn’t locate me. Their message to me was she was advised to wait around for 5 minutes then to leave my food in a safe location, 😳! They provided me a number to reach her, which I did ONLY to find out that she couldn’t find a parking spot to make the delivery. That’s my problem, why? Now I’m outside on Michigan Ave looking for my delivery, I call her again she tells me she over by Giordano’s umm I’m not walking over there!
The Beggars Thank You seal sticker was no longer sealing the box shut and pizza sauce was on the outside of the box and the receipt that’s stapled to the box “red flags”! I put the pizza down on the table in the courtyard to look at it and this what I see.
Please tell me that this is not how Beggars at the Clinton Street location send out their product. Because since the 90’s I’ve been a customer. Starting in Blue Island, to the location on Cicero around 159th, Richton Park, Maywood, Plainfield and now the Clinton Street and I have never seen or experienced such. To add insult to injury I paid just shy of $24 for a small pizza and Door Dash insulted all of my integrity and intelligence to offer me a $10.15 credit to be used on my next Door Dash order. I wish I would ever use them again. And to be clear and direct if this the product Beggars is giving I am WITHOUT A DOUBT DONE PATRONIZING YOUR...
