This park is great! It's extremely small and located at the end of a neighborhood. There isn't much parking at all... The path down to the water is a very old boat launch that is rather steep and should be walked down slowly! Once down you have to climb over the rails of the old boat launch and some bigger rocks to get to the where you can set up/put down your stuff. (Make sure you place your belongings far enough up away from the shore line so that if the tide comes in your stuff doesn't end up in the water 🫣🤭) The water is a bit murky with what my daughters refer to as "riverweed" which is like seaweed but in the river 😜 there are a few big logs in the water close to the shore that my kids like to play on.
There is not much of a current making it a safe place to swim and the water is not very deep at all even during high tide adding to the safety of the area. 🥰
WHY I LOVE THIS SPOT besides the water safety is mainly due to the lack of people! The most people there at once was maybe like 9 🥳 and there is plenty of room to be spaced out! The woods are absolutely beautiful. I haven't tried the hiking trails yet but they look gorgeous and very well kept just like the rest of the area! There are 2 nice picnic tables on opposite sides of each other making them more private.
So main things to keep in mind... Very small not much parking at all At the end of a nice neighborhood Steep incline down an old boat ramp to get to water that needs to be walked slowly and then climbed over carefully. Beautiful wooded hiking trails 2 Picnic tables on opposite sides of one another Very slow current making it a safe place to swim Rocky banks made out of smaller rocks with some sandy/muddy areas as well Not crowded Not recommended for small children or someone with a disability!
PLEASE keep this park clean and beautiful by taking out EVERYTHING you brought in, including ALL trash!!! THANK...
Read moreAlways empty with very few annoying life forms. Plus, a super easy entrance through a neighborhood that ends in a tiny gravel parking lot. Dorothy library trail head starts in the parking lot and also leads down to the water at the opposite side of the lot.
Beware of the residents in the house that sits on the far end of the parking lot. They will call police if it's Halloween and you walk down to the water in corpse paint and fire wood and joyfully call out "Happy Halloween" coupled with a friendly wave.
Police were very quick to respond. We were unsure of the public fire rules at the time but now having the proper information, we will be able to avoid having to vacate in the future.
Always know your rights and never be afraid to exercise them! Even in silly and/or slightly...
Read moreNot much to say. We went to a residential neighborhood to pick up a puppy to train for a disability dog as time goes forward. I'm unsure of the "Breeder's" though. I question stuff about them and the puppy, but they say to bad so sad you own him. If you see an ad on Facebook for American bulldog mix puppies & the peoples names are Jesse & Alexsandria, they are said to live around Scappoose (Hwy 30) & might want to meet across the I-205 bridge exit 8 & it's in this area you might want to Q? it. We met at his bosses house on River St. Follow your gut or ask...
