I only have two qualms with this place that I'll list at the end, but, all around a really great place.
The staff was extremely friendly, they have a good variation of American and seafood options and have unique dishes. I ordered the chicken plate and was surprised to receive chicken wings with asparagus and mashed potatoes because the menu didn't disclose that they were chicken wings (I thought it was going to be a grilled chicken breast), but they were cooked to perfection and extremely juicy.
My husband ordered the wagu burger and was a bit disappointed that the patty had no flavor or seasoning to it but he could at least taste that it was indeed freshly made and grilled and not frozen at all. The fries were really good too. The prices were fantastic with today's economy and you do absolutely get high quality food. The environment is very nice with low lights and a peaceful environment with booths and tables. We each ordered a drink, and appetizer, and an entree and the total was just barely $100 so that was really nice for us while also having high quality food. Crab cakes were also wonderful.
My only two issues: The Google listing of this place shows a steak plate which is why we went there in the first place, only to find no steak options on the menu except for the wagu burger and steak bites appetizer so their menu must have changed.
There was a traveler with his suitcase just hanging out at one of the tables and wasn't eating anything and wasn't kicked out for it. He was also quite rude to the waitresses and had been fully expecting to stay there till close to use the WiFi. That really tainted the vibe and feel that this place that was obviously trying to maintain a fine dining feel but that was being compromised by allowing him to just hangout in there. I don't believe any restaurant should allow this and reccomend for them to go find a Starbucks.
We were very bothered by this as this was our first date...
Read moreIf I could give a .5 star, I would. We've been wanting to try this restaurant since moving to West Linn, as it is known for being one of the more upscale dining experiences here. We luckily got a reservation for Valentine's Day and had one of the worst dining experiences in a long time. The greeter was nice and we were seated quickly for our 6:30 reservation - however it appeared that they got behind very quickly - as there was a lot of time for us to people watch and observe the wait staff while waiting 20-30 min between each course. Clearly the slow service backed up the entire place.
The waitress was not friendly, clearly very busy, but failed to be inviting or explain how the menu worked from the get go. Barely ever checked in throughout the meal either. Had to flag her down to even get a check after enduring a 2 hr terrible meal experience.
Our appetizers did come out quickly, and were the most flavorful course of the whole meal. My husband's first course of lobster bisque came with a very large piece of paper in it?! Seemed like a piece of a piping bag or something. The waitress poured it into the bowl and walked away like nothing was wrong. Disgusting!
While waiting between courses we watched people send food back and get up to leave from tables throughout the restaurant. The owner attempted to bring a plate to our table which was not ours and then we watched him try to put our dishes on the table next to us.
The main courses were also very underwhelming. Nothing was seasoned well, literally no salt anywhere. Everything was bland. The sauce was broken for the lamb I got and my husband's steak had almost no sauce at all.
I thought dessert might be a redeeming course, however the passion fruit cake was miserably dry and the chocolate mousse my husband got looked like it had been dumped on the plate.
I expected way better and am thoroughly...
Read moreTLDR: poorly ran front of house, condescending manager
Honestly not sure where to begin - booked a same-night reservation for an indoor table on Resy. Called an hour before reservation to see if we could come in early and was told no because they had a “buy out”. Manager went on to confirm our reservation despite the buy out…. This is when I should have known to find another restaurant.
We arrive for reservation, they then tell us they’re only seating outdoor patio tables - mind you it’s 7:30pm in mid-September and we have a 3 year old with us. Whatever, we will make it work. Then the manager goes “the buy out party of 50 is putting their orders in now, so it will be a bit of a wait for your food. Just enjoy another drink or something!” At this point we haven’t even been seated yet, I’m 9 months pregnant, trying to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary with a 3 year old… not a particularly appropriate or helpful suggestion.
I try to get some detail on what she means - are we talking a 2 hour wait for food? Because again, we have a three year old with us and recognize no one on that patio will enjoy their dinner if she is sitting there hungry for that long. The manager responds with all the attitude in the world and in the most condescending tone.
As a parting word I attempt to mention that it would have been helpful if they had mentioned all (heck ANY) of this when we had called an hour earlier. Lo and behold it was her on the phone, which explains why the call was so unhelpful.
A simple apology would have fixed the entire conversation and we would have been on our way, but again she had to continue to make rude comments in an attempt to “be right” and put blame on us. A simple solution for the future: turn your reservation system off if you have a buy...
