The West Linn library has friendly staff, great resources, and access to practically anything you could want. BUT, I don't know when libraries became so loud and disruptive. This library is one of the noisiest public places I have ever been to. I never hear parents asking children to lower their voices, libraries used to be a place for quiet, now as in the case of the Wets Linn library, they have become day care centers. The meeting room is near the entrance; this layout is well thought, since most of the sound comes from there.
Is it possible that sings could be posted in this otherwise awesome place, asking parents to encourage their kids to treat the library with respect, by keeping their voices lower? Read moreThey have little concerts here - in the main library. Not in the conference room and entry where there are doors to separate the music and the people trying to do homework. Two weeks before finals (a time when students would need the library) they have concerts. Twice I have gone there just to have to leave ten minutes later because I went there for a quiet place. Downstairs in the kids area there is Duplo table and train table, as well as a stocked play store, that also doubles as a puppet stage. Kids are always having fun down here.
