Saturday birthday party with 14 kids. Bowling was fun and employee did the best he could when our pizza order never showed up. Despite confirming with the bowling alley four days ahead of time, and requesting a wait time at 4 o’clock, 415, and 430, we were told there was no order. As owner previously tried to excuse himself in a different post, Jimmy John’s was never offered, and would not have been an alternative as they knew our pizza order included gluten-free pizzas for half of the kids. There was also no call for an explanation. Forgiveness may have been on the table, but not with blatant lies. This screw up falls clearly on management’s shoulders.
Editing post Suburbanite Bowl reply: Jimmy John's was NEVER offered! 3 adults were at the party - it is a consensus. No one in our party is bitter. It is true there was no further charge. I have not checked whether or not our deposit was refunded, but we do not care about that. LYING about requested other restaurants will not get you anywhere. No one HUNG UP on you. My husband received a call from a 630 number - possibly you - while in church Sunday morning, but no one on the other end, no call back, and no voicemail. This does not qualify as communication. Set YOURSELF free to run an honest company by doing better on the spot. Your employee John did what he could (he was great!), but management was not where to be found. Review "responses from owner" should never point the finger back at a customer. Events should include contracts, details laid out, contacts, and signatures. Perhaps it was my fault to have expected this to run smoothly. I'm sure you will have many parties booked in the future, but the reviews are just a warning to set...
Read moreWe called ahead to confirm that we were understanding the rates correctly. I called and asked: how many people does the hourly rate cover? The response: up to six people. It sounded as though $18 should cover the cost for the lane for two hours, plus any additional shoe rentals. We reviewed the website, called to clarify, then when we arrived, we ended up being charged $21 per person to bowl one lane with a group of three. How is it that your own employees can’t even explain the pricing? We then asked if we would be able to expand to three lanes, since we all technically paid for a lane for two hours. We were allowed to do this, however, thirty minutes later an employee came over to tell us that we had to go back to one lane as it was getting busier. After some mild arguing, we were able to keep two lanes. While this is only a slight inconvenience, I will say that 1. there are cheaper and better bowling alleys nearby, with their bowling balls in an organized and centralized location and 2. while you technically do disclaim that this is "per person" in the tiniest font possible on your website (which I only saw because this was pointed out in another review), you do not post this disclaimer on the signage in the establishment, and I think we all know that tiny font disclaimers are essentially the legal version of deceptive advertising. People appreciate transparency and accountability, and from all the retorts that I've noticed from y'all that begin with "I'm sorry that YOU..." it seems like the owner/management lacks thorough understanding of both of those terms. Little tip- never begin an apology by assigning fault to the person you're supposedly...
Read moreGoing here was a spur-of-the-moment whim - but it turned out to be a fun outing! Literally at 11pm on the Friday night after Christmas, several of us decided to go bowling. Skimming through Maps to b n what was nearby and open the latest, this place popped up. So we grabbed an Uber (we'd been drinking a bit - why else would bowling at 11pm randomly come up?! - so no driving) and headed on over.
It was late and they had turned off most of the regular lights down by the lanes and had black lights on instead, so it was rather dark. That made everything from the bowling balls to my socks look really neat. (I quite appreciated that because being under florescent lights for an extended period of time makes my ever-present headache worse.)
The four of us played two games and had a great time. They had a good selection of balls in both weight and the size of the holes in them.(I throw an eight lb'er - light for an adult - and had no problem finding one that fit my fingers without risk of them sticking as I bowled.)
There's a respectable selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, including my preferred cider. It was too late for the kitchen area - I think it said that closes at ten, but I'm not sure - so I can't speak to their food, but the server getting out the drinks was both friendly and fast. The entire place was clean and nice, with friendly staff. We'll likely return sometime as it's a great spot to spend a few hours...
