The staff at the Westport Country Playhouse is beyond helpful. I went to see In The Heights last night. I am disabled and have a service animal. I purchased my tickets a week in advance and called the box office to notify them that my service dog would be with me. They were so helpful. They offered me accessible seating, which I ended up not needing. I asked to come in during the week to have a short training session with my service dog. They were very welcoming and happy to have me come in and train my service dog in the theater and the lobby. Someone even showed me an alternate exit next to my seat so I wouldn’t have to walk through the crowd when the show ended. They also allowed me to be seated a few minutes early to avoid the crowds. All of the staff members were very respectful. Not a single person tried to talk to my service dog or pet him the entire night. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. It was easily one of the best public access experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot thank them enough.
The show was excellent. I’m so grateful I got to see one of my favorite musicals without any issues. The kindness and professionalism demonstrated by the staff ensured that I was able to have an enjoyable evening. I’d give them 10...
Read moreSmall stage theater off Rt 1 in Westport. Little difficult to find, but has restaurant with patio and bar service attached to side of theater for before or after the performance dining. Stage is a small proscenium stage, with no fancy trapped floor. Seating has a gentle rake, with center aisle and left/right stage seating plus upper balcony seating. Being small the acoustics are good. Excellent for close in one person performances or smaller stage productions as sight line distance to stage is not excessive even from extreme left/rights orchestra seats. This is not a Long Wharf, Yale Rep or Htfd Stage type theater. If you are looking for an intimate close up theater with attach restaurant this may fit the bill. Only drawback is that access road to theater from Rt 1 is difficult to initially spot. I passed by it once and had to turn around in the next parking lot and back track to find the...
Read moreThe best theater production we have ever seen, including those on Broadway and in London. Actors were superb and on key. Noteworthy is the set, allowing the cavernous dungeon to replace the stage in the mind's eye and drawing the audience into the action. Costumes and props were perfect for the production. Having the orchestra in the balcony was genius. Lighting from the stage cast shadows of the actors onto the side walls of the theater, giving the audience the feeling of being surrounded by the action of the play. In summary, The Man of La Mancha was the perfect performance in total. Thank you to the cast,...
