I walked into this shop and walked out five minutes later never having been so insulted in my life. The shop owner, Margharet, seems to think she is above everyone. Including paying customers which I find incredibly perplexing. I visited the shop looking for two specific brands- Celine & Tom Ford. She responded by saying “Those brands can be found in a department store. We only carry European brands here”. I reiterated that I was seeking optical glasses and not sunglasses as I was sure she was confused as her response didn’t make sense. Especially as Celine is, in fact, a European brand. She reiterated that they are at department stores. As a glasses wearer since the age of 8 and now in my mid-40s, I have never once seen an optician at a department store. We all know that and that is what made her comments even more insulting. After being ignored for another few minutes it was clear that my business was not desired and I chose to leave. Not before directly looking at her and asking “What department stores are you aware of that sell optical glasses?”. Her response “I don’t know, many of them.” I pressed on and said “I would love you to name just one.” She ended the conversation with “Saks and Barney’s, when they were around”.
Don’t waste your time going into a shop to spend your money and go be insulted as a “less than”. I have no idea what her objective was as am a high end consumer and a professional that could more than afford her offerings. I wonder if it’s my tan skin. I ended up going down the street to Specs and spent $1,000 on a pair of beautiful glasses- and was treated with the respect and dignity that everyone deserves.

I split my time between Westport and Tampa bay and when I needed to purchase eyewear, Extremely high recommendations convinced me to purchase my lenses and frames at Optical of Westport and I couldn't be happy. While I was in Florida, a mishap caused one of the temples on my glasses to break off. It looked to me that only a screw was necessary, but when I visited a few optical shops in Florida, I was advised that it was a "special" screw and I would need to obtain it from the manufacturer in Europe and they would be glad to fix it for me. I called Margret and she suggested I send the glasses to her and she could take care of it. I did, and when she recieved them, she discovered that it was more then just replacing the screw and more then likely, the entire piece woul need to be replaced which would be costly and take an extended amount of time. Without and option, I asked that she do whatever was necesary. Well, she decided not to give up and spent an inordinate amount of her own time attempting to make the repair. 24 hours later, she was successful. I would certainly have paid what ever was necessary for the extensive repairs but that's all part of Optical of Westport's customer service. I realize this was an extensive explanation but given the average customer service I've become accustom to, This is one shop that stands leaps and bounds above the norm and Margret deserves for potential clients to see what she has to offer. Read moreOk so I have been wearing glasses since I was 6! I am now in my 8th year of being 39 and I have never had so many people stop my and ask about my glasses. All of my friends commented on them immediately once I got them. They don't just sit on my face. They compliment my features and actually make me look and feel even better than I do without them which is new for me. I have always felt better in contacts or contacts and sunglasses:). Now I can't remember the last time I reached for my contacts. Margharet is absolutely wonderful and so kind. I was a little intimidated by how swanky the shop is. It seemed super high end and even though I am used to spending lots of $$$ on frames and lenses having purchased many in Tribeca and SoHo over the years, I still felt like I'd be walking into Chanel or something. NOT SO. Margharet could not have been more welcoming and actually all of her frames, despite being unique and super high end, cost the same as any other place with frames I have ever been to or checked out in the past. The level of service is beyond any I have ever experienced when getting frames. There's not a single reason to go anywhere else for frames and lenses in my mind. She will even work with frames you bring in from elsewhere THOUGH her selection is way better...
