Always love coming here, the only actual natural waterfall in Fort Worth. They have cleaned up the trails alot over the last few years. Aside from one part of the creek that is trashed, it's gorgeous. Always like this hike because it's not too long for the kids and they love exploring on the rocks and bridges, looking for bugs, frogs, fish, turtles and snakes.
There is clean drinking water for all, even dogs, a place to fill water bottles, a mist station to cool off on them Texas summer days, and ample tables and benches to relax in the shade.
We even caught a wedding setup there today, under the weeping willow up near the plane wings. There is a pavilion there that could be used for social gatherings as well I assume.
It's tucked into the road to the old base quite well. Be on the lookout for the place. Parking might be tight for an event, but without an event it's ample. I do with the Trinity cleanup plan covered this area, it looks really bad in a few places that would otherwise make this a perfect example of this wonderful city we live in. God bless...
Read moreI was really excited to see some water so I decided to check out this spot. Wow if you didn't think global warming is real this spot speaks volumes. As I walked along the long trail which was mainly still with some areas that was flowing it was clear to see the water evaporating.
Still water attracts mosquitoes but despite this I saw so MANY variations of dragonflies weaving in and out in front of me. Everything around me was radiant and beautiful. It was a HOT day but I'm fully enjoyed everything. Then I came to some waterfalls which had minimal water but attracted several people to participate in the water or take photos close to it.
Parking is really limited so there may be a wait to find parking depending upon when you visit. There are a few sitting spots along the waterfalls which fills up fast as well. I highly recommend that you visit and have...
Read moreI really enjoyed it and want to go back. We just wanted to get out. Since road trips are out of the question right now to anywhere far due to COVID-19, we decided to head over to Ft. Worth in search of some waterfalls. We found a man-made one at Airfield Falls. They walk was nice and easy. The trail is covered in nature. My phone registered the temp at 90° but with the tree-lined path it felt 20° cooler. We tried to social distance as much as possible but no one was wearing masks. We didn't walk the whole path. We kinda stopped when the trees stopped. The trail is extensive. There were people strolling like us, riding bikes, fishing, letting their dogs play Frisbee in the water, and couples taking what looked like wedding photos. It was a great lazy Sunday day. Like I said, I wanna go back and see...
