I just moved to Emmaus and was looking for a shop that sold games and figured I'd have to head to Allentown, but then I saw Cloud City.
This store is cool as heck.
🎮Small games section compared to the rest of the shop, but don't let that fool you. As a JRPG fan I was happy to see that the selection here contains diamonds like Valkyria Chronicles, Okami, and Ys, as well as more popular titles like Kingdom Hearts. There's a healthy selection of Pop Figures as well along the wall next to the arcade machines. They even had a selection of classic consoles such as the Sega Genesis, Playstation, and classic GameBoy's as well as several titles for each!
📚From the center of the store to the back wall there are lots of comics to look through and trading card games galore! I was excited to see Spider-Man/Deadpool and Nyx comics there. I'll have to explore this section more next time to see if they have issues of The Amory Wars or Key of Z.
⚔️There's even a good selection of boardgames and Warhammer miniatures! (FOR THE EMPEROR - I had to) There was even a cool Nightmare Before Christmas chess set that was really charming.
💳 I tried using my Samsung Pay on their card reader and it didn't work with my main card. I didn't try my other cards but they said it works for some people. No problem either way since the physical card reader worked just fine! They accept trade-ins of card collections depending on their current inventory and are always getting new stuff!
🧝♀️🧝♂️I had a lot of fun exploring the newly-renovated store. The layout was nice and I know where to find everything after just one visit. Of course last but not least, the staff were super friendly! Especially the girl who was working at the time. (I forgot to get her name! But both her and another guy were running the store today)
Also: They have a slew of tables for gaming tournaments and events, which is just great as I live in the area. This was an awesome find. I'll...
Read moreI love this store, or at least the idea of it, but they are way too expensive to actually give one a reason to shop there, it’s almost exploitative. I’m very glad they stock Gunpla now, but their prices are a nearly 50% MSRP markup, so expensive that you could buy any given kit from anywhere online with the average $10 shipping and still be cheaper than driving here and buying any of their kits. It’s insane. Their board games are at least nearly MSRP. The store itself is good, they sell miniature paints and a fantastic stock of board games and a mix of vintage and modern video games. If they fixed the prices to at least competitive, it would be 5/5 easily, but until then, shop somewhere else
Edit: to be clear, any other brick and mortar shop that sells similar items, even in this same area or those that pay more than this store sell kits at MSRP. It’s not as if this place pays their employees particularly well or more than other places, in fact other hobby shops host the SAME type of events and still are cheaper whilst paying the same. For them to reply and pretend as if their prices are due to their pay or events is laughable. It’s not just online that sells things at a reasonable price. The oldest hobby store in the area sells at MSRP, in fact, every online store has a primary brick and mortar store and still maintains prices and frequent sales. Don’t publicly lie because you think those reading are too dim to accurately criticize your practices. You can see on your own site that you barely pay 15$ an hour, at LEAST pay a real living wage before you lie about it. Do better.
Edit 2: since going back recently, it’s seemed that their prices are now in-line with other shops, which I hope to continue seeing. As such, I’ve increased my review score from 2 stars up to 5 as I...
Read moreI’ve been doing business with these guys for over a year now and quite frankly I’m tired of poor attitudes and over priced cards. They say they’re under new policy and can’t adjust prices of cards therefore wanting people to over for cards. They want tcg market value to the cents why should I waste my time here anymore when I can sit in the comfort of my air condition and order cards from tcg online and I don’t have to deal poor attitudes anymore and people acting like they own the place and they’re the ones making money on singles when in reality they get paid on a wagerly basis. I also don’t buy cheap cards from them my last purchase was a 9.5 moonbreon for 950 dollars just now I was giving 750 for 5 singles but their credit card machine is down. cloud city has lost a loyal and very good customer today. Take my advice for those of you who read this check out the Quakertown flea market the Pokémon shop there is incredible friendly staff and they work with you on pricing. I simply asked them for a little bit of a deal on a gold star Suicune that was marked and priced at mp pricing but had a crease and told me that’s the condition at best the card was HP and I got a poor attitude because I asked for a deal and stated my opinion. They also offer less than 70% in trade ins they claim 70 when in reality it’s more like 35-40%! Not all people are bad I’ve encountered some nicer people there unfortunately I will not be coming there anymore and I will be taking my business elsewhere and to those of y’all that treated me with respect and made me feel like a customer thank you! Y’all...
