Carolina Custom Sound — Attraction in Winston-Salem

I am a delighted Carolina Custom Sound customer and I highly recommend them for your home, commercial and civic projects needing sound, lighting, video, security and planning and automation/control of all these.

I approached them as my first stop planning a new theater room. Chris patiently answered many questions as I explored options and coordinated with our decor themes. Salamander and CCS helped us review multiple choices. We built a project plan.

My anticipation built after I visited their showroom and we narrowed down a new TV, speakers, storage, electronic components, a control system and power. In our site visit we identified required remodeling work - and the other subcontractors CCS recommended were terrific, on time partners in our project.

Our installation went smoothly and now the room looks terrific, sounds amazing and has resulted in a vibrant sound and video stage for my family, with custom, controlled lights! We will use this system for decades, and I recommend CCS's designers and installers to everyone. We are going to explore additions to our Control4 home automation system as a next upgrade to our home.

Their customer service, interactions, support, technical and construction knowledge, equipment choices, advice on sound and video sources, installation and follow up have been mindful. My wife and I needed new outdoor speakers. We located Carolina Custom Sound using an internet search of the Klipsch speakers we were after. A quick phone call to Chris, the owner, resulted in our placing an order (no obligation). He offered to demo the speakers in his showroom and let us choose whether to purchase and keep them. We loved the speakers and took them home. But before we left, we discussed an Internet issue with our current wireless router and dropouts with Pandora. Chris encouraged us to change to an Apple Airport Extreme router, which we also purchased. In installing the router ourselves, we ran into a problem and called Chris. Although he was in the midst of an installation, he took the time to walk us through the setup procedure and got our new router working. He went far beyond what I could have expected. And he has earned our A/V business for future purchases. I highly recommend him and his company. As an aside, the personal trainer we both use had a similar experience in working with Chris and the technicial who came to install her new TV in her new home. We purchased a “smart home” with a system installed by Carolina Custom Sound. Not having any experience with such a system, we were initially concerned with being able to operate and maintain the equipment. Carolina Custom Home has been great to work with. They initially came and converted the system to us from the previous owners. We then bought a new TV from them which they installed. The TV we selected came to their facility damaged so they ordered a new one which crossed into a new model year. They honored the quoted price even though the new model was more expensive.

We have had two issues, one with the sound system and one with the TV. In both cases we got a same day call when we contacted them and they were able to talk me through the fix over the phone. Once by Chris (the owner) and once by Milton (a senior technician). In both cases their instructions were very clear and understandable. Plus, they were very courteous and pleasant to work with.
