Poke Star — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

Allow me to preface this with I lived in hawaii for almost 9 years so I know what a poke bowl is supposed to be, and this is not it. I ordered the spicy tuna in my bowl and my partner ordered spicy salmon. Both of us received plain fish in our bowls. Additionally there was so little of it I could count the pieces, there were 11. I have never in my life paid so much for so little fish($16+ tax). If I could rate 0 stars I would. I mean seriously there wasn't even enough rice to fill the bottom of the bowl, it was almost all vegetables and wonton chips. I could go on and on, for example I asked for both green and sweet onions, got maybe 3 slivers of green onion and a whole 1/2 cup of sweet onions. Placed pick-up orders through GrubHub and ordered for the first time with these guys. My hubby built his own bowl and I ordered a Pacific Bowl, customized by adding crispy onions for savory crunch and ahi tuna with my salmon. DELISH. Not to mention, it was more affordable than I thought it'd be considering sashimi grade fish is usually pretty pricy. Each of our bowls came out to around $15 each and we were satisfied with our portion sizes. Pick-up was also safe. They require and wear masks, limit how many people can be inside the establishment at once (I don't think they're allowing dine-in right now) and have screen protectors all around their food/pick-up station so you couldn't breathe on anything, even if you tried. We were heading home and stopped here, for the first time, to try Poke Star. It's on Hanes Mall Blvd near Costco and Lowe's. When we parked. We weren't sure if they were open or not, even though the open sign flashed open. No one was in there and it looked not as bright as I thought it would be. We took a chance and we walked inside and looked at the menu and the line of toppings, protein, sauces.

The staff came out from the back. I wish they would have been more welcoming and friendly. We really had no idea how to order. A lady came in behind us and gave the menu paperwork to the staff. We found the paperwork and checked off what we wanted. We both made build your own bowls, to go. We loved the bowls and the sauce!!! We will definitely try this...
