UPDATE OF 12/23/18 EXPERIENCE: For Sunday brunch, each of us ordered the mixed green salad with salmon, which we have eaten multiple times earlier. The quality of the meal was like we were in a run-of-the-mill low-end restaurant and not up to the norm: Salad was only mediocre and the salmon lacked the quality of the past
One of the seats in our booth had been severely stained and did not look like something one would want to sit on. Obviously, the tables, chairs and booths need a re-do!
Hope these these items, especially the food quality and servings will be improved or we'll eat elsewhere.

One of the best restaurants in the Winston-Salem area! Very impressive menu; deserts made in house; freshly prepared meals (not frozen or prepackaged); somewhat upscale decor; professional waitstaff and never intrusive; and very reasonable prices. Apparently, because Bleu is somewhat hidden and off the beaten path, many folks just don't know about it, and those who have only seen it might think it's just downright expensive -- which it isn't, in spite of some of the negative reviews.
Most folks who have a not-so-good experience are the ones most likely to write review, which is the case for Bleu's. Don't know where the folks who rate the prices as "too expensive" are accustomed to eating. Obviously, at mediocre restaurants or fast food joints. If you've never been there, give it a try, you won't leave disappointed.
Any of the Hanes Mall nearby restaurants -- even the more expensive ones -- just don't compare. Even though the setting appears somewhat elegant, the dress code is not formal and children are welcome.
Even without reservations -- except for Fridays or Saturday evenings or special occasions --, you'll likely not have to wait for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. Don't waste your time waiting in line at any nearby restaurant (e.g. Village Tavern, etc.), just go over Bleu's and enjoy a far better meal at...
Read moreFilthy Sunday, our family attempted to dine at Blue. We arrived around 12:30. I took my son to use the restroom. All 3 stalls in the woman's restroom were filthy. I will say I am a rather picky person when it comes to cleanliness and germs. However, this is the first and only restaurant I have ever left due to bathroom conditions, or for any other reason.
The handycap access stall had standing water on 1/4 of the floor, the worst of it was the toilet itself. The seats were dirty the bowl had fecal matter all over the inside of it in and the base of the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months! The floors were awful. I checked the other two stalls, one toilet bowl was stopped up. The other was so filthy inside and out, I will spare you the gruesome details. If they can't be bothered to provide a decently clean restroom I can't imagine their practice in the kitchen. I have been in two restrooms in worse condition, both of which were at gas station. One was flooded and backed up, the other was outside.
When we left the bathroom the rest of my family had been seated. We did not order drinks yet, so we let the server know we would not be dining with them.
We have eaten here in the past years ago. The food was fine, but, overpriced. Every other time we had eaten with them their bathrooms were fine. However, their sanitation score has never been imprrssive.
I am not one to write poor reviews without first giving the establishment a chance to fix the problem. I called the restaurant about 7 p.m. to talk to them. After 2 solid minutes of the phone ringing and no answer I hung up. The staff never seemed interested in why we left either. I would stay away from...
Read moreI patronized this establishment on Friday, Dec 17, 2021. The ambiance was wonderful. Christmas decorations were beautiful. We were sat at our table which appeared to be an undersized table for the location it was placed. Upon lifting the tablecloth it was a patio table placed where a regular sized table should have been leaving a foot or more gap between the wall and table. Odd...but were looking forward to dinner and drinks so just carried on. Placed our order for drinks...waited...waited...After watching our waiter serve other tables (giving the table next to us 2 pours of wine and salads) we still hadn't received our drinks so I called over to the waiter and even mentioned it to the man who appeared to be the manager/host. Neither seemed really concerned but the server finally brought over drinks. We ordered a Strawberry Lemonade Martini and a Pomegranate Martini...we received a Strawberry Lemonade Martini and an old fashioned. When I said something to the waiter, he was like "well there's no more pomegranate." Shouldn't that have been conveyed instead of trying to pass off an old fashioned? After re-ordering another Strawberry Lemonade Martini that took a while again. The food came out which was the only slightly redeeming quality of the restaurant except for the Lobster Mac and Cheese which only had 2 small pieces of Lobster in it and the under-cooked calamari. The steak tips were good and the stuffed flounder was good. As for the time it took to receive drinks, never being checked on unless I waved him over, the host/manager seeming to not care about my concerns and the 2 complaints about the food, I will never patronize this...
