This was my first stop in Cherokee. All the staff were so helpful! They took time to share Cherokee culture with me, explain how the books were organized, give my personal recommendations and even showed me how to read some of the sounds in the syllabary. Talking Leaves is a really special place with a beautiful collection of books. I purchased a book on Cherokee spirituality that I read during my stay that enriched my experience hiking in the Smokies on their land. I purchased beautiful children's books for a friend's classroom library, books on Cherokee language and some lovely handmade earrings. Everyone should stop here and support this great place, and they should commit themselves to learning about the places they travel to, particularly on native lands through books like the ones they sell at Talking Leaves.
