Qualla Java is a Native-owned coffee shop located in Cherokee, North Carolina. It is a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike, thanks to its delicious coffee, friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere.
The shop is located in a wooded shopping center, and its exterior is adorned with Native American artwork and symbols. The interior is simple and cozy, with a few tables and chairs where customers can relax and enjoy their coffee.
Qualla Java serves a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and iced coffee. The coffee is sourced from small-batch Colombian farms, and it is roasted in-house. The shop also offers a variety of pastries and snacks, many of which are made with Native American ingredients.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Qualla Java, and I was very impressed with the coffee and the overall experience. I ordered a latte, and it was one of the best lattes I have ever had. The coffee was rich and flavorful, and the milk was perfectly steamed. I also tried a few of the pastries, which were all delicious.
The staff at Qualla Java was very friendly and welcoming. They were happy to answer my questions about the coffee and the local area. I felt very much at home at Qualla Java, and I will definitely be back next time I am in Cherokee.

Read moreThe coffee is delicious. I bought a bag of Costa Rican for home and we both had the Butter Bear frozen coffee. Tim, the mgr/owner was very pleaaant, but the young girls that work there are rude and dismissive. I said thank you to the girl who handed me my coffee, no response...so I said it again, assuming she didn't hear me and again, no response. At that point, Tim said thank you. The next time we went in, 20 minutes before close, another couple and ourselves were waiting to get acknowledged. The 2 girls were feverishly cleaning and didn't even stop to say...can we help you? Finally, the other couple asked if they were open and you could tell they didn't want to serve anyone. I understand that most businesses close @ 5pm on the Reservation, but having said that, at least provide service until closing and employ some people that accutually like people, or at least their job. I often wonder where consideration and politeness have gone these days.
On the way out of town, my husband went in to grab another bag of the Costa Rican coffee and walked right back out. He told me that the girls working there were being very rude to the few customers that were in there.
Tim, you need to address the poor customer service that your associates provide, because your coffee is awesome and I would have come back...

They served my drink hot so I kindly pointed out that I had ordered it iced and they looked at each other. The guy I ordered it from said they would remake it and the female barista said, “I am NOT remaking that, you can make it” making me feel immediately awkward. She then continues to talk about me “ordering it wrong” for several minutes while I sit right in front of them. Finally, the male barista makes my drink and serves it and lo and behold, it’s a small drink, when I had paid for a medium. Then I tasted it thinking, well at least I have my coffee. When I tell you it tasted like straight syrup, it tasted like sugar, not a chai latte. My friend had gotten the same drink but a different flavor and hers was very good. Not sure if the bad drink was out of spite or just a new barista. However, I will...
