I have gone wine tasting in Napa previously, and this was the first time that I got an education about growing, harvesting, and making wine. I always thought white wine was made from green grapes ... geez ... wasn't I wrong!!! The valley has 3 different climates, and terrain was explained with visual and verbal cues. Depending on where the 🍇's are grown, the outcome in quality and taste differs. Some had earthy notes, others, berries, and honeysuckle flavor and scent, and my favorite was the sweet desert wines. I really enjoyed pairing red wine with dark chocolate. Made sure to take some home to enjoy in the future. I will also never take the type of wood that the barrel is made from for granted ever again. Jessup is a small winery but produces a wide variety of wines to suit all tastes and preferences. Our host, Jett, was knowledgeable, courteous, efficient, and a great conversationalist ... he made us feel comfortable from the very start of the experience. The decor is cozy, classy, and welcoming. I would surely do this again. I would give it 10 stars if I had a choice and will definitely refer...
Read moreWish I could give this 4.5 stars. Did a 6 wine tasting, all reds. Their wines seem to be hit or miss, you either love it or don’t care for it at all. Example: the zinfandel is very sweet, tasted more like a dessert wine, which neither my friend and I cared for, but they have some phenomenal blends like the juel.
Customer service was great- I believe it was Matt who helped us out and recommended some other wineries to us, in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about wine.
Pricing was one of the downsides- it’s actually what detoured me from buying any wine. 3 tastings is $10 and 6 is $20. If you buy one bottle the 3 tasting fee is waived and if you buy 2 bottles the 6 tasting fee will be waived. I wanted to buy one bottle, but then would have had to still pay the tasting fee on top of that, so I decided against it. I would think me purchasing one $90 bottle would be more profitable than just making $20 on a tasting. Something to consider for sales purposes.
Total side note- but they serve chocolate with some of the tastings, and it’s so good! Apparently from Annette’s in...
Read moreJessup was hands down one of the best unexpected places we discovered while visiting Napa. We had heard that Yountville was charming and a must see. We had no plans, but decided to just walk the cute little streets and see what we could find. We were visiting during a rather difficult time, with both Covid and wildfires active. Most places were reservation only and difficult to get into without one. As we were walking by, we noticed Jessup and it looked like a very cute little tasting room. A man named Carlos promptly greeted us outside, where we asked if it would be possible to do a tasting (though we had no reservation). He checked inside and came back out very quickly and said "follow me." He immediately seated us and we began our flights. This may be the first time I have ever truly enjoyed every single wine on the flight. Not only did we buy a bottle of each, we also joined as members! The wine was fantastic and Carlos went out of his way to make us feel welcome and enjoy our experience. I highly...
