The food at Bottega is descent but the service and overall experience is a big disappointment. Our experience was a birthday celebration for a friend from out of town. A small party of 4. It was our recommendation to celebrate at Bottega and we very much regret that decision. Our small party of 4 was treated horribly by our waiter. He got many of the items in our order wrong, including bringing the wrong wine. Any time that we would let him know that his order was wrong he would snap back and claim it was not, or not his fault, or would offer a discount on our meal (but not actually fixing the problem). On the wine, the sommelier, who was excellent, overheard him arguing with us and jumped in and told the server that the wine was in fact wrong. Never an apology or an admission that he was wrong. The final straw was when our friends ordered Mint tea and he brought a completely different tea. When we told him he got it wrong, he simply said that he put "mint" in the order, as if it we actually cared whose fault it was. Again, his fall back position was to offer to take off the bill, which seems elementary considering they brought the wrong food or drinks. But the worse part is that they never brought the right tea, not even offered to fix the problem. All along the people at Bottega made us feel as if discounting our meal somehow could fix the horrible experience and the embarrassment that we felt for recommending this place. Don, the manager came over and offered to comp the entire meal, a very nice gesture to be sure, but not one we requested or required. However, Don, THE MANAGER, never brought the Mint tea either, promised me a business card for us to communicate on this problem and never brought the card either, and never got his waiter to come by our table and apologize. In short, I realized that the problem at Bottega is not a just one-off with a waiter having a bad day, but a culture and management problem. The wait service was horrible, the management tries to fix it's problems by comping the meals instead of trying to actually fix their short comings. I would not recommend Bottega for any reason even if their food was amazing,...
Read moreWell to start off, the menu is incredibly jumbled and convoluted. There is no rhyme or reason to have a muddled menu format and honestly I absolutely hate it (as someone who studied design.) It actually drives me crazy because I could not focus on a single item on the menu and same goes for the drink menu with the bad price list that was off by maybe 2 points and crooked. Please please re design your menu!!!!
Overall the restaurant looked nicer than this.
We waited 21 minutes until our server came in a giant rush and walked off as I was going to order our appetizer haha. Not funny but kinda movie like comical with my mouth open and ordering to no one lol. It also happened mid sentence as my partner tried to order our entree as he left mid sentence. Curly haired male with glasses.
Portions are pretty small for the price and arinicinis were pretty bland. As I'm looking around the food looked pretty deflated including the sad Branzino my neighbor had. I think I was fooled because it was semi busy (7pm Sunday) and I had high hopes. Was this the only place open? It wasn't but we were fooled by the atmosphere.
I normally try to only review when it's incredible but this was especially bad. We have been checked on 2x and only taking drink and appetizer orders in the 40 minutes we've been there and half of the people are already done with their meals. We also never got our bread service even though he assured us it would come out. We got served our entrees and still nothing but a quick hello from him. We finally got our bread after we asked him again the third time with no apology or explanation that maybe it was busy??
We're pretty laid back but holy crap this was horrible service all around with semi ok food. Our server finally actually talked to us at the end when I was done eating and maybe he caught on that we were not very happy and offered us a dessert, but even so, we will be avoiding this place in the future. Also to add that I have been a server for years and understand this world so this was just kinda a mood ruiner when we were hoping for a...
Read moreAs I'm reading the other reviews I wonder if we're talking about the same restaurant? We only had one night in Napa so we wanted to make it special. We we decided to go here based on other reviews. It was a complete and total let down, I'm very sorry to have to say that. There were six of us in our group. We had a reservation and spent no time waiting at all after we entered they had our table ready. The waiter was friendly but definitely tired and just not in the mood. But I was okay with the delay ... we sat there for about 20 minutes before he came to take our order. I'm trying to remember all of our plates but mine was a single ravioli about the size of a dessert plate. But it was probably the worst tasting ravioli I have ever experienced. The dough was mushy and the inside was completely off on flavor. After about three bites I left that plate and didn't continue. One of my daughters had the pasta with seafood... With safron. Again I couldn't believe the flavors I was experiencing and none of us could take more than two or three bites. My wife ordered the vegetable lasagna, and again nobody liked it. The one plate that was actually not bad what's the pasta with just simple tomato sauce. I actually wanted to quit at that point and not order anything more, but it occurred to everyone to get the desert, the chocolate Volcan. And again very surprisingly it was a terrible experience... The chocolate tasted like it had no sugar, but the sauce on top what's something none of us could describe.... Maybe a bit of cheese was in it, but still nobody wanted to eat it. I think we all have wide ranges of palates... But this night out of six of us not one was satisfied with what they ordered. At the time we didn't say anything, and my purpose here is not to insult or damage the image of anybody but rather to try to encourage some improvement. Something happened that night... maybe the chef was replaced at the...
