I initially sent the message below directly to the company after they asked me about my experience. Unfortunately, I never received any reply. Because of that I felt it was important to share my experience publicly. I would strongly recommend looking at other rental companies in Joshua Tree as I have never encountered such strange and dismissive customer service elsewhere. While I tried to provide respectful, constructive feedback privately, the lack of response makes me feel that this company simply does not care about their guests experience
While the home itself was nice and the view undeniably beautiful, we unfortunately experienced several issues that left us disappointed with our stay.
One of the most important aspects of staying at a rental property is feeling like youâre the first guest to arrive â that everything is spotless and well-prepared. Unfortunately, that wasnât the case here. Upon arrival, we noticed the property could have been cleaned more thoroughly, as we found items left behind such as hair ties, and even a used hairbrush with hair still in it in one of the bathrooms. From a sanitary standpoint, that was unacceptable. We hoped this would be the extent of it, but more problems arose during our stay.
The rainfall shower â one of the main reasons we chose this property â did not function properly and only dribbled water.
The bathroom sink did not drain correctly.
The air conditioner was extremely noisy every time it turned on.
We found ice bags in the freezer, one of which smelled strongly of fish, which was unpleasant.
One of the two outdoor sunbathing chairs was broken and unusable, with only a note saying parts were ordered. To make matters worse, a rusted propane tank was being used to hold down the cushions â not only unsightly but impractical since only one chair was available for use. This was particularly frustrating since relaxing in the sun was a major reason for booking this property.
The kitchen was missing basic essentials like aluminum foil and parchment paper, which made barbecuing difficult.
The barbecue gas tank ran out within 15 minutes of our first cook, requiring us to change tanks mid-meal.
Most concerning of all, what was supposed to be a high-quality natural dish soap at the sink appeared to have been refilled with laundry detergent. My wife avoids harsh chemicals, and realizing she had been unknowingly washing dishes with detergent was very upsetting.
Overall, while we appreciated the view and some aspects of the home, these issues collectively diminished the quality of our experience and fell short of what we expected.
Since returning home I have been very busy, but Iâve also been considering leaving a review to make sure future guests are aware of these problems if they are not addressed going forward. I fully respect that you are running a business, and Iâm open to any conversation about this. For now, Iâm sitting tight, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of...

I feel compelled to share my experience, although it is truly disappointing and difficult to express how let down Iâve been. Upon our arrival, the property was in an unacceptable state. It was clear that no effort had been made to clean or prepare the space for new guests. The sheets on the bed were dirty, clearly unchanged, and there were stray hairs left in the bedding, which is completely unhygienic. To make matters worse, the trash from the previous tenants had been left behind, and the fridge was filthy with pieces of old raspberry and a strong, unpleasant smell.
After spending the entire day trying to get in touch with the host, we finally reached them and, after much persuasion, convinced them to send someone over to clean the space. The cleaner arrived hours later and did a good job overall, addressing much of the mess. However, due to time constraints, they were unable to clean everything thoroughly. It was after this that we discovered the roaches in one of the bedrooms, which was truly unsettling and made us feel even more uncomfortable in the space.
Unfortunately, our experience didnât stop there. Hours later, we discovered four roaches in one of the bedrooms. This was a shocking and disturbing find that made us feel even more uncomfortable and unsafe in the space. I could never have imagined that our stay would involve sharing the space with pests.
At this point, we were promised a 50% refund for the stay as compensation for the state of the property. However, despite multiple follow-ups, the host has now gone silent and is avoiding any communication. In fact, they even tried to discourage us from reaching out to Airbnb, which feels like an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for this awful experience.
I have traveled extensively and used Airbnb many times, but this experience has been by far the worst experience I have ever had in my entire life. I feel deeply scammed and disappointed by both the property and the hostâs lack of professionalism. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this property think twice and proceed with caution. This stay was far from the clean, comfortable environment we...
Read moreEver wondered what itâs like to vacation inside a trash can? Book this place.
If you're looking for a luxury stay where flies tuck you in at night, roaches greet you in the bathroom, and a hot tub full of sand exfoliates your will to live, youâre in luck. This place is a masterclass in false advertising.
We arrived to what I can only assume was a post-party crime scene. The house was filthy. And I donât mean "oops we missed a spot" dirty. I mean the trash was full, the floors were caked in grime, there were empty beer bottles under the beds, and the pool looked like it had been hosting algae conventions for weeks. As for the hot tub, it was basically a sandbox with bubbles.
Now here is the best part. Instead of having the house cleaned before we got there, you know, the bare minimum, they sent one poor guy to clean a five-bedroom property by himself. Bold strategy. Shockingly, he couldnât pull it off. So they sent in an actual cleaning crew who worked for hours until midnight. Because nothing says vacation vibes like dodging mops while trying to find a place to sit. We couldnât use most of the house until the middle of the night. Our entire first day? Gone.
The fun did not stop there. One bedroom was absolutely swarming with flies. Buzzing on the pillows, under the sheets, full horror-movie level. Another room? Roach city. They killed eight and there were still more showing up like uninvited guests. Honestly, Iâm shocked we didnât find a family of raccoons in the fridge.
After we complained, they sweet-talked us with promises. A 50 percent refund. Late checkout. Free pool heating. They made it sound like they cared. Spoiler: they didnât. We only got the late checkout. Everything else? Lies. They were just stalling so we wouldnât contact Airbnb support before the host protections kicked in. Super classy.
This wasnât hospitality. It was a bait and switch wrapped in mold and insect wings. Unless youâre into overpriced trauma, do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else.
Would I stay here again? Only if I lost a bet or wanted to punish myself...
