I booked this hotel since it was pretty close to Joshua Tree National Park and seemed like it had good reviews overall. But, once I got there it seemed like it took a dip pretty quick.

When we checked it we were told we would be on the second floor which was good because we wanted to be away from people and noise since we would be getting up early to hike. When we came back to check in, we were moved to the first floor w/o any notification. Okay, not the worst but still kind of a drag.

When I went to pay I asked the staff member at the front (Rosie) if I could pay with cash. She asked if I had exact change because they were low on $1. She then told me there would be an additional $250 charge on top of the room confirmation price. So almost $500 if I wanted to pay with cash. Which call me naïve but my card was on file and they had all my information so...any damage to the room could still be charged to my card I had on file when I booked the room. Didn't make much sense to me but okay. When I came back to the room I noticed we didn't have a coffee pot and I went back to inquire about it. Rosie replied, "Well we can't inspect every room to see what's missing." Seemed a little rude as I was inquiring about MY room specifically. But again...could have been worse. She did call me back and explain why there was no coffee pot but the initial explanation was a little off putting.

To be fair, there was a gentleman at the front whenever we got breakfast who was very polite and helpful and another woman who was kind enough to get us some extra blankets when needed. Parking was good and the beds were in very good shape as well. Only ding on the room was the cleaner they used in the bathroom was VERY strong...either than or someone was smoking pot and it just got caught in the material.

Overall...50/50 for a...

we were camping at a festival not far from the Best Western Joshua Tree hotel, and my wife and i and our three kids all caught a terrible stomach bug. we needed the comfort of a hotel room to ride this out. when i called the hotel it was already past 11:30 pm, and i was worried it would be a hassle to get a room at that hour and we needed to get off the road asap. the clerk Phillip answered the phone and as soon as i told him what was going on, he immediately went into helper mode and told us he would be ready for us to arrive. when we did arrive, he wasted no time getting us to our room. Phillip, and the next day's clerk, Celia, were so very kind, understanding, and helpful. they gave us extra waters because we were all dehydrated, and they researched stores that were open late where we could get medicine and supplies. when i had to go back to camp to pack up alone, staff told me not to worry about checking out on time and they were extending us a courtesy of not charging us for a late check-out or an extra night. and i am also aware they planned to go into our room and do a full sanitizing cleaning, as well as not rent the room out right afterwards so as to be double safe our stomach bug did not pass on to the next guests. this was very responsible and made us feel safe. on top of all that the room was fully equipped w a full kitchen, two very comfy beds, and a great shower in the bathroom. the furniture and aesthetic was classic and comfortable. i have never written a google review before today, but the service at this hotel was so important to our safe return home, i had to share with the world this is a very good hotel. from this day on, i will always check for a best western first anytime i have to book...

My wife and I booked a room for one night the past weekend. Long travel day. Arrived after dark. Unpacked in first room on 3rd floor. Five minutes in, smoke alarm begins chirping. Did so about every two minutes. Went to desk and was informed they could fix it in the morning. I requested another room. Moved to 2nd room on 3rd floor. Noticed the curtains were ripped/slit significantly. We could not close them to block the surrounding outdoor lights. Also noticed that the door latching plate had been broken apart and was unuseable. Assigned to a 3rd room. Seemed okay although we had no wash cloths or hand towels - only two medium sized bath towels. No TV remote, but we were done. Miscellaneous: vending machines highlighted on all three floors but there was only one on 1st floor near the lobby, taped with an out-of-order note. Elevator got stuck on the 2nd floor during one trip back and forth to the front desk. Went back to 1st floor and started agin.

Coffee was good and young lady at the desk was great. Very patient as she tried to handle the desk through our adventure, another couple's broken door key, and guests arriving to check-in. Thank you!

Made an inquiry during check-out about receiving a discount on the rate due to the whole episode. Received an email invoice for another guest with same first name ... but not me. Ironically, that guests rate total was $79. Ours was $85 AFTER our inconvenience discount. Lot of work to do here. Corporate needs to release some funds to help a good staff of people run a...

Rented the suite with a kitchenette and a King Bed. Quick note - I was an assistant property supervisor for many years - I have walked and done due diligence on maybe 10,000 rental units. I don't get grossed out - but darned if this place did not give it a try! Black mold all over the kitchen sink could be taken care of with some spray bleach and then a 10 minute caulking job - I am surprised no one cares enough to even wipe it away between guests. Bed Bugs - I saw no evidence of a current infestation, but they had a bad one at some point. (see pic's) I don't know how many years of bed bugs it would have taken to produce the amount of pooped blood on that mattress, but it had been soaked! Who tries to *clean* a bed bug infested mattress!?! Just spend $80 and get a new one. The bathroom floor was dirty. looks like Flamin' hot Doritos were scattered around on the floor. The German cockroaches on the wall (not American cockroaches/waterbugs) were just kind of a shrug after the other issues. I am sure they enjoyed the food from previous guests on the bathroom floor =) And the funny thing is it is not difficult nor expensive to fix these issues - not sure if the staff needs training, or management - but Best Western has attached their name to this literal roach motel, and the optics are terrible. Staff was friendly, suite was spacious, and the sound proofing seems great since we did not hear our neighbors.

Stayed one night. Room was quiet, but pretty worn and dirty. Stains on the Couch, Desk chair and carpet was nasty. The window track had about a half of inch of dirt in it. Hair dryer in room didn't work, called front desk, said they would look to see if they had another ine to use, had to call back in the morning and request another hair dryer. We were offered to use one in another room. (Which we didn't) The attempt was made to make that portion better. Breakfast was less than desirable. We got down a 7:20 am, and most everything was empty. They did bring out roughly 15 pieces of bacon, then roughly 10 minutes later some scrambled eggs. The breakfast room was full and seemed that everyone was wondering why there wasn't more food. The girl minding the breakfast area kept bringing out cold cereal and milk. A little disappointed in the breakfast to say the least. Overall I felt this was an expensive room for the condition and food service. Probably won't stay again unless things are updated. See photos below.
