Throne Hall of the Ark: A Seat of Power.
Within the ancient walls of the Ark of Bukhara, the mighty citadel that once housed generations of Bukharan rulers, lies the Throne Hall – the ceremonial heart of the Emir’s court. Known as the Kurinish Khana, this grand hall was where the Emir of Bukhara received ambassadors, held official audiences, and delivered his decrees.
The Throne Hall stood as a powerful symbol of state authority and justice. The Emir’s throne was placed on a raised platform under a domed canopy, commanding attention from all who entered. The architecture combined grandeur and elegance: slender wooden columns, intricately carved capitals, polychrome tilework, and decorative stucco created an atmosphere of both power and refinement.
This hall was more than a place of ceremony. It also served as a court of law, where the Emir acted as the final judge, reinforcing his dual role as both ruler and protector of the people. Official visitors stood before the throne in solemn procession, while public proclamations were often made from this very space.
