Nam Vy Coffee - Hanoi Train Street 2 — Restaurant in Hà Nội

We were completely scammed, we had booked a table 8 hours in advance. I had specifically written that we wanted to sit on the side of the train tracks. When we get there, they put us on the side we didn't want to sit on when we ask them for a table on the side where the train tracks are, we are placed with a couple who also told us that they had booked their own table in advance. None of us even got our own table. When the train arrives, the shop owners tell us that only one of us will be allowed to sit on the side the train is going and the other of us has to sit on the inside against the wall where you can't see anything at all. Very sad when greedy shop owners can't keep their promises. Ruin the experience. Tip for the owner, if you can't keep reservations, let your customers know in advance....

I came here on a weeknight and had the BEST experience. The day before, I had gone to the main tourist site for the train street cafes and just had a terrible time. So I did some research and found out this side of the train tracks is much quieter and had no security hassle.

I messaged this cafe on whatsapp (found # on facebook) and got an immediate reply. They made a reservation for me and even gave me some helpful information for my arrival. They met me once I arrived and I had the BEST time. Tasty drinks and fantastic location. But the owners were the best part. They took photos for us and even had nice conversations with us. Very lovely people.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience! My colleague was the one who contacted the Nam Vy staff, and she mentioned that they were very helpful and took great care of us. We were advised to arrive by 6:00 PM at the latest since the train schedules were at 7:00 PM and 7:20 PM.

That said, we had to wait around 2 hours for our food to be served. I also ordered a black tea with sugar, but it came without any sugar.
