Hanoi 1990’s – Train Coffee is one of the most distinctive cafés in Hanoi, famous for its location right on Train Street — a narrow railway track where trains pass just inches away from the seating area. This café offers visitors not just a place to enjoy coffee but also a thrilling and authentic local experience that you won’t find anywhere else.

The ambiance of the café transports you back to the 1990s Hanoi era with its vintage décor and relaxed atmosphere. The café is known especially for its signature drinks like coconut coffee and egg coffee, which have received great reviews from both locals and tourists. The rich, creamy egg coffee is a must-try for coffee lovers, while the coconut coffee provides a refreshing twist on the classic Vietnamese coffee.

One of the highlights of visiting Hanoi 1990’s – Train Coffee is the excitement of watching trains speed by just a few feet from your table. The café staff are very attentive and prioritize guest safety, guiding visitors to move to safe spots when the train approaches. They are also friendly and happy to help take memorable photos for guests.

Because Train Street is popular and often crowded, it’s best to arrive at least 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled train time to secure a good seat. Visiting during weekdays or early hours might also help avoid the busiest crowds.

Overall, Hanoi 1990’s – Train Coffee is more than just a café — it’s an experience that combines delicious Vietnamese coffee, local culture, and a touch of adrenaline. Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or a traveler looking for a unique spot in Hanoi, this café should definitely be...

If you’re looking for a unique experience in Hanoi, the 1990s Café by the train tracks is a must-visit. This charming spot offers the rare opportunity to sit right next to the railway line, where you can watch the trains whiz by just inches from your table. The train schedules are displayed on boards, so you can plan your visit and be ready for the excitement.

The prices are quite reasonable, and the friendly staff makes you feel right at home. Unlike some of the more touristy cafés around the area, where drinks are overpriced and you may be stopped by security, this café is easily accessible and offers a more relaxed atmosphere. While it's a popular spot for tourists, it never feels like a typical "tourist trap." Instead, it offers a genuine local experience with a quirky twist. The moment a train is about to pass, they quickly clear the tables and give everyone clear instructions on what to do, ensuring safety. It’s a fun and thrilling sight as the train passes extremely close.

For kids, however, it’s essential they follow the safety rules strictly, as it can be dangerous if they aren’t careful. Overall, it’s a fun and slightly surreal experience worth trying when you’re in Hanoi – just be mindful of the potential risks for...

The only way to experience Hanoi’s Famous Train Street! We were lucky enough to get the ‘current’ train times in advance from the owner (a massive tip that we had received was to WhatsApp the business and they got back to us straight away!) and booked a table for that night (again another great tip!). By the time we arrived the party was in full swing and excitement levels were high! We also noticed that loads of customers had purchased a beer each so they could put their bottle caps on the rails and get a flattened souvenir of the night! The owner gives everyone advance notice of when the train is coming and which direction it’s coming from, whilst also advising how to sit and ensure you don’t get hurt. We had such a great time that we were able to see the next two trains come through (as they were close together) and then we were on our way for the night. Would 100% recommend this location to watch, enjoy and get the adrenaline pumping whilst witnessing such an amazing sight in Hanoi!!

Note: We were also advised that we should avoid the 3.30pm train as the police come to block tourists the...
