If we come back to El Calafate, we would very likely stay here again - It’s a solid hotel with attentive staff and a good location - Definitely gets our recommendation!
Pros: Upon checking in, the front desk sent us all the hotel information, food menus, drink menus, etc via a bunch of downloadable PDFs in English on What’sApp - We’ve never experienced this before and we loved having all that information on our phones in one place Front desk staff was very attentive and spoke good English (we are lame Americans who don’t speak Spanish) Showers: I don’t know if I’ve ever stayed at a hotel with better shower pressure and hotter water and we’ve been privileged to travel a good amount - It was amazing! Location is right off the main drag, but not too busy - Lots of great places to eat a very short walk away MiniBar had water, sodas, and snacks for a very reasonable price
No real “Cons,” but just some things to be aware of: There is heat (radiators) in the rooms, but no A/C, however we did some research and we don’t think any hotels in El Calafate have A/C - We visited in January (summer) and kept our window open and it never got hot and it was nice and cool at night for sleeping Rooms are decent sized with everything you need but nothing to...
Read moreWe happened to use this hotel because the hotel we were supposed to stay had to do maintenance work of the rooms that we reserved. The hotel lacked the lake view but was upgraded to a suite and offered free dinner. We took this option. The hotel room was decent. The reception was wonderful when we checked in. The dinner was also wonderful and so was the staff. The night service chocolate was also charming. The breakfast was also attractive. Unfortunately, the reception person in the morning was less than cheerful and insisted on talking to me in English that was barely understandable. I speak fluent Spanish. Some staff might think it is a courtesy to speak in English to a foreigner when the guest is non-native. This is opposite. It was frustrating and unproductive. To make matters worse after the trip, the reception head contacted me as if my comments on poor English offended him while I commented a lot of positives above as well. We evaluated the service because we received the email request to evaluate our experience. If the hotel only wanted to hear good things, it should not send us the email asking how our stay was. It was very unfortunate that the reception head made our stay a poor memory...

The lady Receptionist, whose name I won’t mention, was not courteous in telling us that the top floor was full when we requested for a room there. Room 113 was fine on the night of 8th but on the nights of 9-10, the guest above us walked with heavy feet.
I learned from Ms. Rosio😊 at Reception that Patagonia is comprised of five provinces, one of which is Santa Cruz where El Calafate is. She lent us the adaptor, which we returned to the male receptionist on the 12th upon check-out.
Calafate Parque Hotel (CPH) serves good breakfast. I appreciate the: Kombucha (ref. See description of theirs in the picture uploaded); Made-up room daily; Conditioner; Cotton swabs; Round cotton for facial cleansing.
Negatives of CPH are: No complimentary bottled water; No water kettle, coffee/tea in room, teaspoon; Small bathroom; Chipped squeaky closet door; CPH’s policy that breakfast be eaten solely in the dining room is understandable for guests who had their breakfast already. It does not make sense when pick-up time for the airport is earlier than 6 a.m. Meanwhile there were guests filling up...
