I’m currently staying here and this was the second night. I’m an American traveling with Gate 1 and staying for 3 nights here. I put the Do Not Disturb sign at the door every time I stay in a hotel anywhere in the world. When I got back to my room this afternoon. The sign was gone and found at the table. The bed was made. I lost my power bank. I’ve been carrying my power bank in my backpack for some days. The previous bus from Punta Arenas to El Calafate had a USB port but I never used it. That bus went back to Punta Arenas and we got a new bus in El Calafate. This morning I thought why I kept on carrying the power bank around. I felt safe if I need to charge, the bus has the USB port so I took out the power bank and put it on the table. I just brought the USB cable. The new bus didn’t have a USB port. When I got back to the hotel, I was looking for my power bank because I took a lot of pictures this morning but power bank was gone. The Do Not Disturb sign was on the table. I am very upset right now. I made sure I wrote this review even though it’s at 11:54 pm right now and I’ll have to get up at 5 am tomorrow. This was the second time I’ve ever written a review in my entire life. I travel 4-5 months out of the year and never got my stuff stolen before. The one star is for the location. It’s located 2 blocks away at the end of the...
Read moreHotel Kosten Aike, was a great place to stay while being in El Calafate.
A big thank you to Ornella, who was warm and friendly, welcoming to the hotel. Her English was fantastic, which made our stay much easier. She was there in the evening, whenever we needed help.
The rooms, were comfortable and warm and had everything we needed.
The location, was great too. The hotel is a 5 min walk from the Main Street. The Main Street has all the shops, bars and restaurants. So plenty of places to eat and drink at reasonable prices.
Breakfast, was simple and tasty with plenty of different options on offer.
We had an excursion booked with “Get your Guide” which they could pick up from the hotel too. So if you’ve booked an excursion, then the hotel is an easy stop for tour companies to pick up from.
Only thing if your booking with Booking.com and Expedia. Is that the Spa is only open from 17:00 till 21:00. The Airport Shuttle won’t be included, the hotel will give you the company WhatsApp number, which you organise yourself. The company that the hotel uses is the main transfer company for the whole area. Which will cost 8,000 Argentine Pesos one way or 15,000 pesos return. A taxi cost us from the hotel to the airport 27,000 Argentine Pesos...
Read moreThis IS the place to stay in El Calafate. The TripAdvisor recommendations were right. Very friendly, helpful staff. Spotlessly clean and well decorated hotel. We had room 307 and the room was spacious, comfortable and more than we needed. Comfy beds and pillows, and on the same floor as the Spa. Daily free breakfast was an added bonus, as the offerings were wonderful, helping us hit the trail fully satisfied. Highly recommend this hotel. Enzo and Aylen at the front desk were particularly helpful.||Easy walking distance to anything in Calafate including restaurants, the nature preserve and other activities. ||We particularly enjoyed the grounds which are well kept and colorful. Benches allow you to enjoy it. The lounge and activity room are also a great bonus, and we often had coffee/tea in the lounge, perhaps playing some billiards in the afternoon. ||One suggestion: The Spa did not open until 5pm each day, when we prefer to work out in the morning. Plus, there is a great balcony in the spa that overlooks the city, but it is not available until after 5pm. We would respectfully suggestion broadening the hours since after a long day of hiking, many do not want...
