This hotel has awful management. I stayed here in nov of 2017 with my sister and niece. We were supposed to receive family rate since my brother used to work with hilton Hotel in USA for many years.
Upon arrival, we faced few confused staff that didnt know how to process this and therefore their head manager Luciano Casagrande came and after 2 hours of waiting he informed us that since my brother is not present, we couldnt use FAMILY rate ( we didnt want employee rate and had the confirmation letter of family booking), at this point we just wanted a room since we just arrived from oversees and had already waited for another 2 hours in hotel for a room so we agreed to pay a full price anyways. The service here was not friendly and no one smiled, unlike Hilton in usa, employees were not welcoming and sheets had hair on them, then i decided to write a review on Trip advisory and on Hilton survey to maybe get Hilton attention to bring Yervan Hilton match Hiltons standards.( which i thought Surveys are for!!!!) but instead, i think i insulted Mr.Casagrande's ego.
Next morning i received a text from my family to delete my review since the manager in yerevan and my brother's manager Don Anderson in Virginia kept writing my brother threatening him with his job. Don Anderson violated my rights of writing my opinion as a review by telling my brother (who had nothing to do with this) that he will take action against him. So to not cause any harm to my brother who by the way was a manger himself and worked many years with this company, i deleted my reviews regretfully. They told him, not only i have to remove those reviews, but also i have to replace them with 5 starts. That wasn't enough, Don Anderson who came lately as GM to my brother's hotel and perhaps wanted to bring his own crew, kept disrespecting my brother enough to force him to resign. My brother is a man of integrity and had worked proudly for many years and would not stand unfairness so he had no choice but to resigned. I would never choose another...
Read moreStayed at this hotel from Jan 16 to Jan 23. Overall things went fine, but an incident on the day of my departure was something I’ve never encountered in all my years of travel, and left a sour taste in my mouth.
The incident concerns my interaction with one of the lobby bar waiters. It was late into the night, and I was lounging on one of the couches in the lobby, zoning out of and into short periods of sleep, waiting to head to the airport for my flight. This bearded gentleman of tan complexion approached me from behind, yelling “you need to sit”. I was startled, and couldn’t understand his accented English in such a confrontational tone. So he yelled again. Now, I’m no expert in the hospitality industry, but that is no way to address a client. In fact, even if we were colleagues, or complete strangers on the street, that is no way to approach someone and address them. Alas, I complied. I sat up straight, and zoned off to sleep again. Shortly after I was awakened by him again, this time his face right up to mine. I could also tell that he just went out for cigarette, as his breath absolutely stinks. He tried to grab me on my arm, yelling, you cannot sleep here. He crossed the line. I stood up, looked down on him, and said, I’m a guest of the hotel. I checked out earlier today. It is within my right to be in this lobby, and sleeping is in no way prohibited. If you try to touch me again, I will call the police. And if you come talk to me again with your stinky breath up my face, I will report you to the hotel management. He backed down. I stopped him, and asked for his name. It was Norayr Derbalyan. Unbelievable behavior that changed my impression of this hotel, and of Armenia at large. Everyone else I interacted with at this hotel was more than lovely. But Norayr Derbalyan has no place in the...
Read moreI agree with other reviewers who said this property is not worth recommending. As a DoubleTree by Hilton, you would expect the standard welcome cookie. However, you will not receive it here. After I raised my complaint, the Front Office Manager, Tigran, astonishingly told me by email that I could ask for it myself if I wanted one—where is the Hilton brand standard in that?||The lobby bar service was extremely poor—you have to find your own seat and then wait more than 10 minutes while staff finish their private texting and phone calls, only to be greeted with impatience when they finally take your order. At breakfast, sparkling wine was displayed, but when I asked, I was told flatly that there was none available.||Even worse, all these issues were only “handled” by email, without any face-to-face follow-up during my stay. Nobody from the hotel ever contacted me in person, and there was no genuine attempt to resolve anything while I was still on the property.||When I gave immediate feedback, I found that the senior management—from the General Manager down to his team—were constantly “on vacation,” sending auto-replies that they were away, and at the same time insisting they were right.||Later, I even received an email claiming that my room was “upgraded because of my Diamond status” (which I never requested), but in fact the room was terrible, facing a noisy construction site.||If you want a hotel where management dismisses problems, hides behind emails, claims they are always right, and is forever on vacation, this is the place. Otherwise, avoid it—it does not live up to Hilton...
