Pros: The hotel is located in a central location next to Republic Square. Their rooms are huge and if you’re lucky, u get a view of the Republic Square from your room window. They also have a view of the square from the executive lounge balcony. As a platinum elite member, I was given a free access to their lounge although their breakfast selections were pretty limited. ||Cons: |My biggest complain from this hotel was their customer service and their responsiveness regarding certain issues. I arrived at the hotel at 5AM from my flight which I made the hotel staff aware few days prior so that they don’t cancel my reservation for not showing up. The front desk staff seemed busy on his cell phone when I arrived that I had to wait for him to finish the phone call. Upon check in, I was told I got a room upgrade in their new wing which I was grateful for. When I entered the room, I was given a dirty room. At first, I thought I entered an occupied room because the box of foods from the previous guest and used robes and towels were scattered on the floor. The room that I was initially assigned to had a great view of the Republic Square. So then I had to go down to the front desk again to tell them about the issue. As a platinum elite member, I found this very irresponsible on the hotel’s part because how could have they assigned me a dirty room without double checking? I’ve never had this happen to me before. I don’t know their process of picking a room for new guests but I’m sure that the front desk staff named Hayk was pretty distracted from the personal phone call he was making at that time. He probably just picked a random room without verifying if its clean or not. I was then given an executive room in their old wing as a replacement but the view of the room wasn’t good. On the other hand. I was also charged a “no show” fee because I wasn’t able to check in the day prior even though I have given them an advance notice that my flight will be arriving late. I booked for 4 nights but I was only given 3 elite night credits because of my presumed “no show” the day before. I have contacted the hotel a few times to resolve this matter but I was told that they wouldn’t give me a refund. I was hoping that they take full accountability regarding their mishaps and incompetence but my loyalty to their brand wasn’t...
Read morestayed here for 5 nights in late April 2025. this is a real old-fashioned luxury hotel (I know it’s now 4 stars). I am using “old-fashioned” in the best possible sense of the word. The hotel is fully staffed with receptionists, waiters, porters and round-the-clock housekeeping. All staff I interacted with spoke fluent Russian and very good English, in addition to their native Armenian. While the outdoor pool was shut due to weather, there is a gym and a beauty parlor. The rooms have all the amenities many hotels in Western Europe seems to have dispensed with, including a champagne ice bucket, ironing board, shoe and clothes brushes, branded toiletries including body cream, various vanity kits, etc. The hotel building itself retains the architectural grandeur of Soviet architecture from the 1930-1950s. The ceilings are high, rooms oversized (especially when you come from London, like I did). There is marble flooring and columns throughout the public spaces, and spotless carpeting in my room at least. The décor of the rooms is not new. But, everything is impeccably clean, furniture well maintained and refined in an understated way. The huge bed and the ability to gaze onto Republic Square right from my bedroom window were definite highlights. The view is equally impressive from the third floor restaurant, where I had breakfast twice. The breakfast consisted of an extremely varied buffet of European, Armenian and regional dishes, such as syrniki! I was also able to order an omelette with ingredients. While the automatic coffee machine at the buffet only has cow’s milk, coffee with alternative milk was available on request at no extra charge. The staff to guests ratio at breakfast was almost 1:1 and all the staff were amazing. I have almost nothing negative to say about the hotel. Yes, the decor is not trendy, but I enjoyed that. Bathroom storage in my room was somewhat restricted and the ground floor bar(?) area was having a refurb. The latter didn’t bother me much because the are plenty of drinking/eating options in the area. The hotel’s third floor Italian restaurant was also open, as was the Marriott Executive lounge on 6th floor, which I did not visit. No construction noise was audible inside...
Read moreThe stay was excellent and the room (732) was very comfortable except for the bathroom where the door would open rigth on the toilet which was quite inconvenient.
The staff were very good as well and they always took good care of us and always greeted us with smiles.
The food was amazing both in the executive lounge and the 3rd floor breakfast buffet. We had the chance to have a couple of our friends as guests on a couple of occasions and they were also impressed by the quality of food.
One thing that was a major disappointment was the fact that on Monday, December 9, a day before our checkout, we came to our room at around noontime to find that the keys weren't opening the room door so we had to reset the keys. Unfortunately, the bigger problem was that we found out after an hour when we needed to get money from the safe for a meeting we had with a contractor that the safe was also disabled, so we had to go through the whole security process of resetting the safe code and having the security officer open it for us. That made us be late to our appointment and even worse when we got to count our money at night after running to our appointment in the afternoon, we found out that money was missing from the total. Unfortunately, I cannot blame anyone as I do not have proof but the coincidence of the safe being disabled and the money being lost is shocking and I am certain that I didn't lose the money as I was never using the US Dollars which were in the safe but was only using AMD during my stay so the money definitely got lost in the safe...
Worth noting that my parents were at Marriott in August and they also had an incidence of the safe getting disabled in the middle of their stay and them losing money on the same day, but back then we thought it was a mistake that had happened at the bank, however, having the same issue and same loss of money is quite intriguing so I wanted to let you know as an elite member of Marriott Bonvoy so maybe more security checks would be run with...
