Quite disappointed in the whole experience. Waited for 20 mins to be seated, and then they also hadn't put aside a spot even though we had reserved. Luckily there were still other spots available. The waitress spent a loong time explaining the tasting flights - which would be good if it were informative except it was more about what she did and didn’t like because she kept forgetting the information. Another group started singing happy birthday and she raised her voice and said “shut up I’m talking!”. A lot of swearing through her explanation too, which seemed unprofessional as well as to the extent it would be uncomfortable even in a more casual setting.
Waitress recommended 3-4 dishes for a main meal for 2 people. We ordered 4 + a side and were still starving. Needed to cook more food once we got home! When you spend over $50 on food you expect to at least be satiated, not hungry. Lamb was pretty average and kale chips were super salty. The rest was good and all came out fast.
Understand the vibe they’re going for, but wouldn’t want to go in winter. Even in spring weather with the heaters on everyone still had their coats on! Food also got cold quickly because of it.
The gin’s were nice. We know you don’t need a large amount of a mixer for tastings, although unsure why we were only given one to share between the two…
The booking locations online also weren’t very clear without needing to research each place, glad I didn’t accidentally book the maclarenvale!
After this we definitely won’t be back for the food, and because of the service probably not for...

Prohibition hosted our wedding, and made it a spectacular day for us and our guests. From the moment we enquired, Prohibition’s event manager Shannon was an absolute joy to work with. Communication was always easy and we were able to organise most of the event from interstate! Shannon was understanding and accommodating to the way we envisioned the day to run, and was transparent and clear in pricing, timelines and any limitations at play.
The wedding ceremony was held in the rear distillery and the reception was held across the whole venue including the rear distillery, front bar and front alfresco space. On the day, the Venue Manager worked closely with our florist, videographer, acoustic duo and celebrant in our absence and the space looked sensational. We opted for cocktail service through the “food for fingers” menu, and created a custom drinks list featuring Prohibition’s gin showcased in a variety of cocktails, as well as the standard beer, wine and cider. The gin was an absolute hit!
Our guests haven’t stopped raving about the service, abundance and quality of food and the atmosphere created by Prohibition's bubbly and friendly staff. The location was perfect – central, close to public transport and easy for interstate guests to find accommodation nearby, with great photo locations nearby (graffiti walls, South Terrace parklands, Victoria Square, etc).
LGBTIQ+ friendly, incredible gin, incredible atmosphere. We can’t thank Shannon, Danny and the crew enough. Definitely consider Prohibition for your...
Read moreMoonlight a new floral gin was launched on Saturday 12 June! Gin tasting was good. The new gin had that reddish colour and changes to a magenta after you add a bit of tonic. The floral taste is heavenly and really hits your tastebuds with an explosion of flavours! The place is neat and smells of good gin all round. The barrels all over the shop and restuarant are a very good feature. Having a distillery on site with tours for guests is an amazing thing. The distillery tour was quite informative and very well done. The presentation of the gin when served to patrons is well done in a rustic set. The serving staff were very friendly and quite knowledgeable. Their knowledge made the gin tasting experience an amazing journey of the tastebuds. I tasted a trio of gins that I had never tried..Moonlight 42% Navy 58% and Bathtub Cut 69%!
Thank you Prohibition Gin for quite an experience. Well done on all the awards you have won soo far! Hope one day you can make a gin from African ingredients like the Marula fruit and some other African leaves, flowers and herbs. Hope you can improve you variety availability in Alice Springs! Will be...
