Port Campbell is a nice place itself for a short quiet stay.
However the portside motel that we have stayed is riddles with negative things. We have stayed here in July 25, 2015.
The place itself is i think too pricey for the services you will get in the room for a MOTEL.
the electrical equipments needs to be updated. Equipments are old generations if the motel's aim is to save electricity getting newer generation is a good start. Otherwise hand dryer needs to be pressed continously to operate, reverse cycle's motor unit is shared with the unit next door. When we came its a chilly night, So whoever operate first will get continously air-if your second too bad your unit will constanly on and off. The reverse cycle itself is old-max temp is 27 "still feels no more than 20". Yes they have electric blanket but who would like to walk to the toilet in a chilly room? On hot days i am not sure how the reverse unit can keep up.
no quilt only blankets. Unless you are sleeping with a human heater is cold.
shower and toilet drainage syatem needs to be updated-floor is not inclined/angled enough. When you shower even with curtains closes water will flood the whole toilet/bathroom.
microwave is old, takes sometime to heat things up.
shower controls are of old style, separate controls for hot and cold.
im a tv person. I am not sure if it is the battery or the range of the remote control. I cannot operate the tv with a remote from the bed. I have to sit up half way just to change the channel. Stations are ABC and SBS only-maybe expected around this place.
drive slowly in their carpark. Loose gravels especially after the rain.
On the positive side.
Hello folks,
Unfortunately there isn’t a negative rating option here. Totally do not recommend this motel for your travel because the owner is extremely rude and has zero customer service ethics.
Says one thing to the customer and does a completely different thing on the side.
Made a booking via booking.com missing that this did not have free cancellation. I could swear it was (but that is my fault). Anyway, I messaged the property and said that due to unforeseen circumstances we won’t be able to make that particular trip and requested to waive cancellation. 3 weeks later got no response and so called her. The lady turned around and said to me that she will consider it if booking.com won’t charge her commission.
Great, so now I requested booking.com to assist me with this and they confirmed to her that if she is willing to accommodate the cancellation, they will waive the commission and guess what, she came back asking for a valid reason for cancellation as interstate travel ban lift has not yet been confirmed.
I never said I am not travelling because of COVID-19 restrictions! Now I have to wait out to see if the government continues to enforce the travel ban until the end of the year otherwise I end up paying the entire cost of the booking.
I know it was my oversight but the fact that the owner runs the business in such fashion where they are completely inhuman, unresponsive, downright rude and absolutely shady about the bookings is just shocking to me.
I would recommend to steer clear of this place. Not worth it at all. There are many other hotels/motels around this area that I’m sure are much more considerate and customer friendly than this lady. I keep referring to her as this lady because she didn’t even bother giving me her name (despite me...

We had to call up and ask where breakfast was since they did not provide any information when we checked in, we were told to go to a cafe down the road and let them know our room number. We were told that we could order anything from the menu when we were at the cafe, but was hit with an extra charge to my credit card from the Motel a day later. When I contacted the Motel to get clarification, they said the money we paid for breakfast as part of the booking did not cover the price of the breakfast that we ordered so they charged the difference to the card, but at no point were we informed that this was the case. I have never been to a hotel where we had to pay extra on top of the inclusive breakfast, we were never informed of the "extra" charges at the time, nor were we given the option to pay for it when we were there. I wonder how many other people that they have swindled money from in this underhanded way. When I politely queried the extra charge to my card, they said the cafe staff remembered there were 3 people in our group when there were only 2 of us and threatened to charge us additional fees as the accommodation was only...
