We had a roadtrip to Great Ocean Road and after a long drive we're hungry and stopped to the only gas station in Port Campbell. There were few options of restaurant and cuisine around this small town such as, pizza, cafe and fish and chips. There was a fish an chips shop next to the petrol station, we checked on the review which is good without reading the feedback. We decided to go to Fying Nemo Fish and Chips. It's a small shop and no available seating tables inside, but they've provided 3 tables outside.

We ordered couple of baypack (1 flake, 1 dim sim, 1 potato cake, 1 calamari, chips and sauce), each for $14.00. We were waiting for 25-30 min to get our food ready, turned out it wasn't worth to wait this food. The flake was tasteless, oily and greasy. The chips and potato cake were soggy and crispy. Everything served weren't fresh. It was an AWFUL experience and WRONG decision to go here. Totally not worth it for this value that you should pay.

In addition, the customer staff was nice; But the chef / owner was rude and not friendly. She was upset and stopped the cooking, didn't allow us to take any photo inside the place for some reasons. (We took few pics already just before she was upset, if you're wondering why we still have the photos) I think it would be nice if she could speak nicely to customers. It was the first and worst experience knowing that you didn't allow to take photo inside the restaurant. We paid already or else we would ask for refund and leave the restaurant. The lady answered in bad manner when one of our friends nicely asked for a cutlery. Have no idea what we did wrong!

Overall, we still have no idea how people gave good rating for this restaurant as we had the worst experience so far. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED and WILL NOT COME BACK EVER! It's not a bias opinion but we just write our experiences in humble and honest. We feel bad by introducing this restaurant to our mates coming for holiday to Great Ocean Road, it was a total disappointment.

Sadly this place has gone down hill. The fish used to be fresh and tasty. Now it seems to be undercooked, watery and tasteless. The last time we visited it took 40 minutes for our order to be cooked, this was a mid week offseason n evening. Today we turned up a 7.30 to be told they were closed as they had not had any customers for a couple of hours. Despite advertising that they are open until 8.30. This is the last straw for us. Even though we are local and used to eat there regularly. Sadly will not be using these guys again and will be recommending our friends and family to go to Peterborough. The service is much swifter and friendlier. I think frying nemo has got to used to the tourist trade here. Good luck to em in the winter! I am from the uk. But have relocated close by to be near my wife’s family. Think it’s short sighted to assume I am a tourist. Used to go there often over the last few years. As we regularly visited Aus b4 our move. It used to be great. Good quality, friendly...

The fish was actually quite good but they put about 5x more salt on it than needed (and I heavily salt my foods) and immediately wrapped it in so much paper that it steamed itself until the breading was soggy. If it weren't for that, I'd go back for the fish.

But only the fish. The spring roll I got on the side was crispy on the outside but gross mush inside. I skipped the chips as I saw a pile of bargain-bin frozen ones awaiting the fryer.

The "dining" area is actually nice enough considering the location, and overall it's a pretty good value. The staff were less than friendly when I asked for help choosing a fish.

edit: it just occurred to me while reading the other reviews that the amount of salt she put on would be fine had I ordered chips with my fish. so... yeah..... order...

Frying Nemo Fish & Chips is located in Port Campbell. It is approximately 10 minutes drive from 12 Apostle. The restaurant serves delicious battered fish & chips. There is a variety of choices including flakes, grenades, etc, with add on of Calamari rings, onion rings, chips, and nuggets. The price is reasonable. However, the restaurant is quite small. It can accommodate roughly 5-7 people for dining in. Most of their customers prefer taking away. There is a small park near the restaurant, roughly 3 min walk away.

Our chips were amazing!!! Okay, I was a little hesitant when I saw the reviews… then I saw it was part of the petrol station, but there aren’t many good options in Port Campbell. So we decided to just go for it. We only got chips as I don’t buy items out of warmers. I’ve got to say, they were delicious! The gentleman serving was quite friendly too. I’m glad we called in and gave them a go. It was a late lunch, so they weren’t busy, but for us, it was worth it!
