I came across a review on TripAdvisor from Guennie3, claiming Grassroots serves better coffee than Melbourne, with food thatâs over the top. Naturally, I had to see for myselfâand they were absolutely right!
I ordered the soup, and my friend had the breakfast burrito. First off, the portions are generousâso much that I couldnât finish mine. You can tell they donât skimp on quality either; every bite was bursting with flavor. The soup was comforting and hearty, and my friend raved about how flavorful and satisfying the burrito was.
The coffee? Love it! It was rich, smooth, and easily one of the best cups Iâve had in a while.
I couldnât resist trying an apple cinnamon muffin, which was so soft and fragrant I almost wanted to dive into it.
Before leaving, I browsed their shop and picked up the cutest bracelet. Itâs such a nice touch to the whole experience.
If youâre visiting the 12 Apostles, make sure you stop by Grassroots. The food is divine, the coffee is heavenly, and the staff are so warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Read moreLunch was great and coffee was great but the caramel slice was incredible and the best one I have ever had by a country mile. I mean this was on a par with a religious experience of divinely epic tasty proportions. The flavours and texture (the base is worthy of a 6 star review all by itself) was just perfect and the whole composition was an amazing curation of epicurean delights. The caramel was creamy and not too sugary and reminded me of the equally exquisite Highgrove Cornish clotted cream caramel fudge I relished (and still remember) decades ago. The cafe staff are so friendly and the setting is lovely but my slice was takeaway and perhaps luckily so otherwise I would have brought up every slice in the shop! I will be back again tomorrow! Such moments of hedonistic food delight are forever etched as moments in life to truly savour when my taste buds find a true...
Read moreUnderstandably, the cafe was busy so I had come in with the expectation that the service was going to be a bit slow. While our coffee was served quickly, I thought it was a little strange to still be waiting nearly an hour for a breakfast menu. Iâm not sure if this is the norm but hope it was just a one-off case but it was a little disappointing to have our food come out late with no apology; Iâm not sure. Maybe a heads-up on how long it would take would have helped because we were left not knowing if the docket had been lost or not.
This mishap aside, the coffee was great and the food was fresh and beautifully presented, making for a hearty and homey breakfast. The retail shelves were also a joy to have surround us, allowing us to distract ourselves a little with some âwindow shoppingâ. Perhaps we would revisit if we had a little more time on our...
