I came across a review on TripAdvisor from Guennie3, claiming Grassroots serves better coffee than Melbourne, with food that’s over the top. Naturally, I had to see for myself—and they were absolutely right!

I ordered the soup, and my friend had the breakfast burrito. First off, the portions are generous—so much that I couldn’t finish mine. You can tell they don’t skimp on quality either; every bite was bursting with flavor. The soup was comforting and hearty, and my friend raved about how flavorful and satisfying the burrito was.

The coffee? Love it! It was rich, smooth, and easily one of the best cups I’ve had in a while.

I couldn’t resist trying an apple cinnamon muffin, which was so soft and fragrant I almost wanted to dive into it.

Before leaving, I browsed their shop and picked up the cutest bracelet. It’s such a nice touch to the whole experience.

If you’re visiting the 12 Apostles, make sure you stop by Grassroots. The food is divine, the coffee is heavenly, and the staff are so warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Lunch was great and coffee was great but the caramel slice was incredible and the best one I have ever had by a country mile. I mean this was on a par with a religious experience of divinely epic tasty proportions. The flavours and texture (the base is worthy of a 6 star review all by itself) was just perfect and the whole composition was an amazing curation of epicurean delights. The caramel was creamy and not too sugary and reminded me of the equally exquisite Highgrove Cornish clotted cream caramel fudge I relished (and still remember) decades ago. The cafe staff are so friendly and the setting is lovely but my slice was takeaway and perhaps luckily so otherwise I would have brought up every slice in the shop! I will be back again tomorrow! Such moments of hedonistic food delight are forever etched as moments in life to truly savour when my taste buds find a true...

Understandably, the cafe was busy so I had come in with the expectation that the service was going to be a bit slow. While our coffee was served quickly, I thought it was a little strange to still be waiting nearly an hour for a breakfast menu. I’m not sure if this is the norm but hope it was just a one-off case but it was a little disappointing to have our food come out late with no apology; I’m not sure. Maybe a heads-up on how long it would take would have helped because we were left not knowing if the docket had been lost or not.

This mishap aside, the coffee was great and the food was fresh and beautifully presented, making for a hearty and homey breakfast. The retail shelves were also a joy to have surround us, allowing us to distract ourselves a little with some “window shopping”. Perhaps we would revisit if we had a little more time on our...

This is a very small charming town… There is very little choice of breakfast in a normal day and there is almost no choice of any meal especially dinner in a public holiday! Anyway, we were lucky to have the charming Grassroots cafe opened for business this morning after the Labour Day holiday, and served us yummy breakfast. We had the Bacon & Egg roll from the standard menu, and a Pumpkin toastie from their special day menu, plus our usual large cup of Latte. The roll was very good, with a running sunny side up, lots of lettuce and 2 slides of juicy bacons sandwiched in between of a soft bun. Fresh and juicy with great taste. The toastie was even better. The mashed pumpkin went really well with the vege and pesto, and the toast was perfectly toasted. Latte was as great as usual Australian standard.

Plenty of choice here and reasonable prices. I got the chicken, leek and mornay pie with chips and salad and it was very satisfying. My husband got the beef burger and was happy with it. However it came served on a chopping board which meant the burger juices dripped everywhere, and leaked off the board, onto the table and then off the edge of the table. PLS can restaurants just be practical – chopping boards aren’t even style over substance cos they look tacky anyway!! I asked the waitress for some serviettes to clean the mess and explained what happened and she laughed and said “oh that’s funny”. Sweetie it’s not a good time to have burger juices drip on you because of the restaurant/chef’s serving choices. 😤
