This is my local pub, so admit I'm possibly going to be a little biased... You have been warned. The pub was taken over by new, young management in 2017, and has stepped things up in its drink and food offerings, and general atmosphere. (Not saying Thomo, the old publican, was doing a bad job. But, he'd been the publican since 1988, and I ask anyone who'd been doing that for close to 30 years whether they'd be able to remain fresh and upbeat all the time). The pub has a reasonable array of beers on offer, and Will's not afraid to try something a little unusual on tap to see how it fares. (For example, last Sunday I was quaffing back a Grey Goose, that I learnt was brewed in Chicago. Go figure - here you are in a dinky-die Aussie pub on the Great Ocean Road and you're downing draught ales from the Windy City! Who'd have thought it?). Also, the meal offerings have gone out of this world. For example (again), last Sunday I was with a mate and my family, and we stumbled onto their Lamb Shank. Now, I'm no foodie, but this almost converted me. Put it this way, a gentleman with an American accent, who was seated close to us, said he'd been enjoying meals all around the world, and had had what he thought was the best Lamb Shank in Scotland. Until he tried what was on offer in the Port Pub. I don't know how they're doing it, but by God - it was beautiful! The main bar has a nice, cruisy, kind-of-surfy and we're-playing-reggae-music-on-low volume feel to it, which works. All in all, the pub offers a nice, 'public house' invitational feel to it: somewhere nice to relax and enjoy a coldie or two, while you contemplate...

Horrible service, potentially even worse food. We were initially told there could be a 5 minute wait for a table and were asked to order our food first and wait outside. After 20 minutes it began raining and when we spoke to Annette the owner about our table we were told that a table was being cleared for us. Over this period we had noticed people whom had just walked in were being seated inside, but chose to say nothing of it, chalking it up to a little confusion on Annette's part. After 45 minutes we inquired again mentioning we were happy to sit seperately but we were reassured they were just clearing the table and would be complete soon. After over an hour our food was delivered to us; still outside in the rain, when we spoke to Annette she had the audacity to let us know that she called us multiple times over the last hour to tell us our table was ready but we had not responded and thus gave our table away. When we had brought up our previous conversations Annette flat denied ever speaking to us. It was apparent that Annette did not care about our experience given we were clearly tourists and not likely to be repeat customers. Overall steak was tough, scallops were heavily salted, burger buns were hard. Would advise anyone travelling through the area not to dine in this hotel under any circumstances; left a horrible impression on what I imagine would have been a wonderful experience in...

The food was good and most of the waitresses were really nice. The problem was with the person "greeting us", a white middle aged male with grey hair, Bill I believe. Once we stepped through the door Bill asked us to put our maskes on which we didn't have enough of for the entire group (group of 10) and asked him where we can get some from as we are not from the area. Bill rudlly said "There is no place that sales them and the restaurant is full" then turned his back and walked away. We went out then another guy from our group who had a mask, decided to go and check again. They gave him a table which we then took, it was outside and there were plenty of tables available, indoor and outdoor. While we were in there a white guy walked in also without a mask but was welcomed by Bill and suddenly tables became available althoughthey were also q big group. Bill did not have a problem with him not wearing a mask and spend few minutes talking to him without even mentioning the "mask rule". Bill saw our middle eastern appearance and did not even bother to talk to us when he happily chatted with the "maskless" white guy. In an attraction area it is expected that people will respect everyone regardless of their backgrounds. He ruined the whole experience for all of us we are definitely not gonna be recommended...

We were recently married at an outdoor location in Port Campbell. We had the pleasure of having our wedding reception at the Port Campbell hotel. Such a beautiful hotel in an amazing location !! We can't thank Will and his team enough for their excellent customer service and amazing efforts on the night and in the lead up to our special day. Will was a friendly, helpful and exceptionally flexible. He listened to what we wanted and there wasnt a request or idea that Will was unable to work with us on. Will went above and beyond by offering to help us out with an alternative ceremony location if the weather was inclement, which thankfully wasn't required. We were extremely happy with our choice of wedding reception venue and we highly recommend you have your next special event at the Port Campbell hotel ..... or just pop in for a bite to eat - you won't regret it ! Thanks again to Will and the entire team at the Port Campbell hotel 🙂 Mr & Mrs Griffiths

‘Spaghetti marinara’ seafood was rotting. Bought instant noodles right after and that tasted edible. Post updated: this is the first time I’ve ever updated my review but I want to make this business aware that they cannot charge $48 for a seafood pasta dish and use old off seafood. My partner and I both had stomach aches the next day. I’ve seen similar post with another customer saying they had gotten diarrhoea where the business posted they only use fresh seafood. So just incase they comment the same thing I just want to completely rule that out. The seafood was so off and almost rotting- texture of the muscles were mushy and the smell was awful. You cannot charge these insanely stupid prices for something that’s harmful to your customers. You should be ashamed as business operates and take accountability. If this business was not in its location and relies heavily on new tourists, they’d be shut long ago. Take your customers feedback seriously.

Overall a Really Good pub. Had a cray version of a surf’n’turf, which was very tasty. At $58 (+surcharge) it was quite expensive for a pub meal. I don’t think I’d have this meal here again (but would definitely go the amazing Parma instead) as it was a struggle to get the seafood tool to crunch the cray legs and the finger bowl to wash the messy fingers, although we got there at the end. The steak, which I ordered medium to well done, had a fair amount of blood pouring out, which was a bit of a turn off, but nothing a spare serviette or two couldn’t tidy up. The upshot is that the steak itself was very tender and juicy so all is forgiven. Really, guys a finger bowl for dealing with messy fingers after eating a meal involving a crayfish is a must. Crayfish legs are not a decoration, it is where the tastiest morsels are hiding. Regardless of a few little faux pas I mentioned, I haven’t lost my love for this great little pub. We’ll keep coming back.
