Cafe on Lords — Restaurant in Port Campbell

My husband couldn't believe we went here as I always read the reviews! I somehow thought I could proof everyone wrong...oh my...was I wrong. When they say don't mention politics, religion, I now have something else to add and it caused an all out war with locals getting involved. I decided to have a double shot short black and when ordering I hold up my thumb and pointy finger really close together, to show to really keep it short. I got a big cup filled to the brim... My son looked at me, without ordering went straight back to sit in the car..he doesn't like war, he's a pacifist. After a further couple of attempts , further disappointment and long silent stares from both sides ...I surrendered to call it a double short espresso. In all fairness, I never ever had heard of the term " short black "until I came to Australia 17 years ago anyway. But I always seem to get an espresso( maybe my accent puts me in espresso category, but definitely the sign language with my fingers does the trick) so didn't think it through .And well, the thing is, at home, I make myself a double shot short macchiato but seriously didn't want to make it too complicated on that very morning..or is it a double shot short espresso...

Waited ages to order. It was Boxing Day and they only had 2 staff working so was happy to wait. Came to order and was told no other milk is available except for low fat. Thought that was odd considering this is a cafe but agreed to purchase the coffees anyway. Once again, waited ages for 2 coffees. I finally got the coffees, took one sip and realized my coffee was made with almond milk (not sure how when they only have low fat). The coffee was so hot it burnt my tongue. At this point I was annoyed with the whole situation so I took it back and politely asked to have the coffee replaced with regular milk as initially ordered. The lady rudely snapped asking for my ticket, I explained I wasn’t given one. She pretended to look through the rubbish but couldn’t find any ticket. She then told me she would make me another coffee but I had to wait as she was servicing other orders. If you make a mistake, good customer service is to apologise and correct the mistake immediately and not further inconvenience your customer by making them wait. No refund offered, no apology offered by that time I was so frustrated I left with no coffee. AVOID THIS PLACE...

During the pandemic, when there are so many struggling businesses in regional Victoria - I would suggest spending money elsewhere. Wish I read the reviews before entering. I ordered 2 wraps and was very friendly to the staff. I saw the lady take the knife out of the margarine tub and use it to mix the hommus dip up and spread it on our wraps. The blackboard stated all wraps get either sweet chili sauce or mayonnaise which I didn't see and no one asked me. Just before she wrapped my wrap up, I asked if she could please put some sauce on it. I received no response and instead the woman sighed and seemed VERY annoyed that I had asked her make something I had paid for. There was no one even in there ordering after us. The other woman watched this and giggled as if she knew I had annoyed her coworker. I received no response when I thanked her and said goodbye. If you don't like hospitality, work in a different industry. I wouldn't have left such an in depth, bad review normally but after reading others it is clearly an ongoing issue and do not wish others to...
