Pure Luxury. From the moment you step into this grand, American style hotel with grand high ceiling in the lobby with solid granite finishes everywhere, the large size of the hotel, built by Crowne Plaza, and large size of the rooms, all of which have ocean views while the corridor has river views impresses. My king size bed and pillows were super comfortable, I never had trouble sleeping in my 3 weeks there from 8 July. For a small price you can upgrade to a studio or one bedroom apartment, with fully equipped kitchen with good appliances, fisher and paykel stove and oven, and smart LG washing machine and dryer in one. I upgraded to a one bedroom in my third week and got 2 balconies with river and ocean views, even from the luxurious corner spa bath. I was reassured that the reverse cycle air conditioning doesn't circulate air from other rooms, so I used it without fear of covid or influenza. I disagree with comments that the decor is dated. It's rare to find such old world charm of grand proportions, large hotel with large rooms and solid granite of different colours splurged all over. Even the smart TV's are large, and foxtel on demand is included! The design is clever, with all rooms facing the ocean, and the enclosed windowed corridor facing the river. I would choose this grand old world charm any day over some modern hotels with matchbox sized tiny rooms, with carcinogenic artificial caesarstone benchtops instead of the thick natural granite splurged generously all over this hotel, and central air-conditioning circulating the same air, germs and covid in all rooms, unlike the individual units that only circulate the air inside your own room in this hotel, and the glorious enclosed corridor with windows facing the river unlike the cheap motel 6 type open corridors that expose you to the weather each time you step out of your room in some resort hotels. I thank Brett the Manager for reserving 3 weeks for me at a very busy time of year. This hotel is PURE...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience at this hotel due to the extremely rude and unprofessional staff. We paid $300 for one night, and before booking, we spoke to a staff member named Gary, who told us it would be okay to stay in the lobby from 10 PM to 1 AM instead of booking two nights, since our flight was at 6 AM. Based on that, we booked just one night. But at the last minute, the staff changed their minds and forced us to leave. We were traveling with young children, and the staff showed zero empathy or care. A woman named Rachel was particularly rude and unhelpful, and made it clear she just wanted us out. When I tried to call and speak to a manager, another staff member, Crystal, hung up on me and refused to let me speak to anyone. After paying $300, they wouldn't even let us stay in the lobby for a few hours — and we ended up sleeping outside the airport with our children. The communication was poor, the staff were disrespectful, and the entire experience was unacceptable. I would never return and strongly recommend others...
Read moreStaff are absolutely fantastic! Location (Florida Gardens tram station just across the road), is fantastic! Views from our ocean view room, fantastic! The only dissatisfaction was there is no servicing of room unless it is prearranged & “for a fee”. Stayed 4 nights & noticed when coming back to room after being out for the day that the bin had not been emptied. When I queried, was told that the room is serviced only after staying for 8 days. Our shower door didn’t seal properly & had to use towels to mop up water. Had to ask for toilet paper, rubbish bin liner (took our own rubbish to basement skip bin ourselves), fresh towels & more milk. 4 tiny thumb containers of milk is definitely not enough for 4 days. Our room only had a microwave. BUT, could upgrade to a room with kitchen facilities, for a cost. Air/con (heating), cannot be adjusted from your room. Too bad if you want to turn it off (as we wanted too), as you can’t. Woke up every morning very stuffy in the nose & body...
