Spend your money elsewhere in the Gold Coast as clearly the owners (Minor Hotels) aren't spending money maintaining it. All of the 3 lifts seemed to always be dirty. The outdoor pool was warm but adorned with grubby cracked tiles and the broken filter cover was floating around. Bedding etc was clean but our room was VERY dated with scuffs, stains, holes in the wallpaper and a missing door on the wardrobe. House-keeping didn't happen on Sunday. The base of the shower didn't seal properly. The sub 1Mbps "broadband" was so poor we disabled WiFi on our cellphones as they were dropping WiFi enabled calls. On the final day we pulled back the edge of curtain to find wallpaper peeling off the wall with what appeared to be damp spots. It's a shame as the hotel location is excellent, room size large and the bed was very comfortable.

Oaks hotels are usually always amazing, however we were met with much disappointment with the room we stayed in, in this hotel. When we opened the door to our room, we were met with a horrible musty wet smell. Needless to say, not a great way to start our weekend away. There was also something seriously wrong with the plumbing, when having a shower you could be blasted with extremely high pressure or enjoy a very noisy shower with the pipes in the walls making quite the racket. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were horrible, we both woke each morning with a sore back and neck. Oaks need to sort out this antiquated hotel. I would not recommend staying here. Rachel, who checked us in, was however very lovely and professional.

Good View, Spacious Room, but Disappointing Pool Hours The hotel has a great view, and the room was spacious and very clean. The young man who checked us in was friendly and helpful, but overall, the staff seemed a bit unfriendly. The biggest downside, however, was the swimming pool. It closes right after sunset, which is quite ridiculous. During the day, most people visit the beach, and evenings are when you’d want to relax by the pool. Other hotels nearby, like Crowne Plaza and even other cheaper hotels (as seen in the photos I’ve attached), have much more convenient pool hours. It's frustrating that this hotel doesn’t offer the same. I hope management reconsiders the pool hours to better meet guests’ expectations.

Pure Luxury. From the moment you step into this grand, American style hotel with grand high ceiling in the lobby with solid granite finishes everywhere, the large size of the hotel, built by Crowne Plaza, and large size of the rooms, all of which have ocean views while the corridor has river views impresses. My king size bed and pillows were super comfortable, I never had trouble sleeping in my 3 weeks there from 8 July. For a small price you can upgrade to a studio or one bedroom apartment, with fully equipped kitchen with good appliances, fisher and paykel stove and oven, and smart LG washing machine and dryer in one. I upgraded to a one bedroom in my third week and got 2 balconies with river and ocean views, even from the luxurious corner spa bath. I was reassured that the reverse cycle air conditioning doesn't circulate air from other rooms, so I used it without fear of covid or influenza. I disagree with comments that the decor is dated. It's rare to find such old world charm of grand proportions, large hotel with large rooms and solid granite of different colours splurged all over. Even the smart TV's are large, and foxtel on demand is included! The design is clever, with all rooms facing the ocean, and the enclosed windowed corridor facing the river. I would choose this grand old world charm any day over some modern hotels with matchbox sized tiny rooms, with carcinogenic artificial caesarstone benchtops instead of the thick natural granite splurged generously all over this hotel, and central air-conditioning circulating the same air, germs and covid in all rooms, unlike the individual units that only circulate the air inside your own room in this hotel, and the glorious enclosed corridor with windows facing the river unlike the cheap motel 6 type open corridors that expose you to the weather each time you step out of your room in some resort hotels. I thank Brett the Manager for reserving 3 weeks for me at a very busy time of year. This hotel is PURE...

We had a terrible experience at this hotel due to the extremely rude and unprofessional staff. We paid $300 for one night, and before booking, we spoke to a staff member named Gary, who told us it would be okay to stay in the lobby from 10 PM to 1 AM instead of booking two nights, since our flight was at 6 AM. Based on that, we booked just one night. But at the last minute, the staff changed their minds and forced us to leave. We were traveling with young children, and the staff showed zero empathy or care. A woman named Rachel was particularly rude and unhelpful, and made it clear she just wanted us out. When I tried to call and speak to a manager, another staff member, Crystal, hung up on me and refused to let me speak to anyone. After paying $300, they wouldn't even let us stay in the lobby for a few hours — and we ended up sleeping outside the airport with our children. The communication was poor, the staff were disrespectful, and the entire experience was unacceptable. I would never return and strongly recommend others...

Staff are absolutely fantastic! Location (Florida Gardens tram station just across the road), is fantastic! Views from our ocean view room, fantastic! The only dissatisfaction was there is no servicing of room unless it is prearranged & “for a fee”. Stayed 4 nights & noticed when coming back to room after being out for the day that the bin had not been emptied. When I queried, was told that the room is serviced only after staying for 8 days. Our shower door didn’t seal properly & had to use towels to mop up water. Had to ask for toilet paper, rubbish bin liner (took our own rubbish to basement skip bin ourselves), fresh towels & more milk. 4 tiny thumb containers of milk is definitely not enough for 4 days. Our room only had a microwave. BUT, could upgrade to a room with kitchen facilities, for a cost. Air/con (heating), cannot be adjusted from your room. Too bad if you want to turn it off (as we wanted too), as you can’t. Woke up every morning very stuffy in the nose & body...
