🇦🇺 7-Day Australia Itinerary: Brisbane, Gold Coast & Melbourne!

We arrived on Sunday the 21st of April and checked out on Friday the 26th of April. We stayed in apartment 1005 (3 bedroom apartment with ocean views) and I must say that various images on different booking platforms, do this apartment no justice. We were instantly impressed by the cleanliness and open space living it provided. The open kitchen is modern and provides everything you need. There is a huge fridge/freezer and small laundry with both washing machine and dryer. The verandah/balcony is enclosed giving piece of mind to any parent with young children. In saying that, the large windows can actually be lifted and opened so you can catch the ocean breeze. Although we were on the 10th floor, the views are still amazing overlooking the pools, surrounding high rises and the ocean. Beds were super comfy and in spacious bedrooms. The hotel amenities are great however, the gym could do with an update of equipment. There is a fantastic casual bar and burger eatery looking over the pool that is attached to the rear of the premises which can be accessed through the pool area. They have a great menu and the food is yummy as well as reasonably priced for a tourist destination. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Upon checkout we were assisted by ‘Cathy’ who was professional, courteous and extremely accommodating which topped off a brilliant stay and experience. This was our first stay at the Q1 and would definitely recommend this hotel for singles, couples or families. I should have taken photos as we arrived but snapped some just before we left so apologies for the unmade beds.

We recently stayed here for my birthday and unfortunately it didn’t live up to its expectations. The room was quite dirty. When we entered there was black hair on toilet seat and in the shower on soap bottles. Dead animals on window sills and bits coming off from the wall that was on the floor. For over $1000 for 2 nights you’d expect the room to be spotless. The lifts were getting renovated and honestly it is plain ridiculous. There’s 2 lifts working and especially in peak times such as check in/check out you’re waiting over 40 minutes to get in the lift. We were waiting for 35 minutes with our luggage and 2 small children, who then started crying because it was taking so long. Everyone was getting angry. We ended up taking the stairs and no one person in reception cared about how stressful that experience was. We called up morning of checkout to get a trolley brought up to our room and it continuously rang out. My husband had to go down and get it himself (he has an injured knee) the service is not up to standard compared to other places. Finally the buffet breaky I would definitely skip. Food is cold. Not a huge variety. Can’t pick any other eggs other than scrambled. The muffin was stale, it was rock hard. I paid $106 for 2 adults and one 3 year old (who didn’t eat anything mind you) and it was such a disappointment. Overall for something that prides themselves of being a luxurious restaurant is definitely far from it. Service could really improve. I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

The Q1 Resort and Spa in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia, stands as a beacon of luxury, offering an unforgettable stay that combines high-end accommodations, world-class amenities, and an unparalleled location. This towering icon of architectural excellence is not just another hotel; it’s an experience. Its stunning design, exceptional service, and proximity to the beautiful Gold Coast beaches make it one of the best hotels in Australia. In this essay, I will discuss the various aspects that make Q1 Resort and Spa stand out, such as its architectural design, accommodations, facilities, services, and prime location.

Architectural Masterpiece

The Q1 Resort and Spa is one of the most iconic buildings on the Gold Coast. Standing at 322 meters, it was the tallest residential tower in the Southern Hemisphere when completed in 2005. The tower’s design, which features a unique tapering shape reminiscent of a sail, is a striking visual landmark that rises above the Surfers Paradise skyline. Its impressive height and sleek, modern aesthetic make it one of the most recognisable buildings in Australia.

The building’s glass façade is not just a stylistic choice; it is also designed to allow natural light to flood the interiors of the apartments and hotel rooms. The combination of glass and steel creates a clean, futuristic look while providing occupants with breathtaking views of the surrounding city, ocean, and hinterland. Every floor of the building offers panoramic views, thanks to the strategic placement of windows that make the most of the surrounding natural beauty.

Q1’s design ensures that each guest has an exceptional experience from the moment they enter. The spacious lobby is both elegant and inviting, offering a preview of the luxurious accommodations and services that await inside. The architecture of Q1 is truly a feat of engineering and design, making it not just a place to stay, but an iconic destination in itself.

Luxurious Accommodations

When it comes to luxury hotels, accommodations are at the core of the experience, and Q1 Resort and Spa excels in this area. The resort offers a range of accommodation options to suit different preferences, from hotel suites to fully self-contained apartments and penthouses. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway or an extended stay, Q1 offers something for everyone.

The hotel rooms are spacious, featuring elegant contemporary decor with plush furnishings that create a sophisticated yet comfortable environment. Each room is equipped with the latest technology, including high-speed internet, large flat-screen televisions, and modern kitchen facilities. The hotel suites offer an intimate, luxury experience with stunning views of either the Pacific Ocean or the Gold Coast skyline. The design of each room ensures privacy and comfort, allowing guests to unwind in peace.

For those seeking an even more elevated experience, the penthouses at Q1 Resort offer extravagant accommodations. These multi-level suites come with several bedrooms, expansive living areas, state-of-the-art kitchens, and private plunge pools. The penthouses are designed to cater to the needs of those seeking the ultimate in luxury, providing a space that’s perfect for both relaxation and entertainment. Whether you’re traveling with family or hosting a special event, the penthouses provide ample space and exclusivity.

The hotel’s commitment to comfort is evident in every aspect of the accommodations, from the luxurious beds and premium linen to the spacious bathrooms that feature walk-in showers, soaking tubs, and high-end toiletries. Whether you’re enjoying a bath after a day of exploration or...

We were lucky enough to stay in one of the sub penthouse suites. Don’t get me wrong—it was a beautiful room. However, from the moment we stepped out of the elevator, our excitement began to fade. We were greeted not by a luxury entrance, but by a red carpet… or rather, a plastic covering over the carpet. It looked unfinished, remained there the entire stay, began to lift, and quickly became a tripping hazard. It felt more like we were holidaying on a construction site than in a luxury hotel.||||To make matters worse, builders were working in the room next door. Instead of peaceful mornings, we were often woken by loud banging, power tools, and workers yelling to each other. This constant noise ruined any chance of a relaxing stay.||||The elevator situation was equally unacceptable. In a 75+ story building filled with residents, holidaymakers, and even dogs, there were only 1 out of 3 elevators in operation. At peak times, it could take up to 30 minutes just to get a lift, only for it to arrive already full. At one point, all elevators stopped working and guests were forced to queue for 30 minutes to use the service elevator—residents prioritizing themselves while staff simply posted paper signs with no communication or support.||||This trip was meant to be extra special, as my brother was proposing to his girlfriend. I had organized 10 helium balloons, complimentary champagne, and chocolates to be delivered to our suite at a specific time to ensure the surprise went perfectly. Unfortunately, the hotel mishandled this completely. At check-in, I was mistakenly told that balloons, champagne, and chocolates had already been ordered for our room (which could have ruined the surprise entirely if I hadn’t double-checked). On the actual day, we returned at 2pm to find nothing had been delivered. Instead, we were interrupted repeatedly by housekeeping—once to make a single bed, then again because they had forgotten their iPad. Eventually, a staff member knocked with balloons and rose petals (which I had never ordered), looking shocked to find us in the room. The champagne and chocolates never arrived. We had to go downstairs and purchase our own, which was so disappointing for such a special occasion.||||To make matters worse, at checkout I was asked to pay for the rose petals I hadn’t ordered. Only after showing emails confirming my original request (balloons only, plus complimentary champagne and chocolates) did staff agree to waive the charge.||||Adding to the frustration, the rubbish chute was out of order for all of our stay. Overflowing bins near the service elevator meant we had no choice but to stockpile rubbish in our room until they were eventually cleared. This was both unhygienic and unpleasant.||||We paid a significant amount of money to stay here, with high expectations for such an important occasion in our family’s life. Instead, we were met with noise, hazards, broken promises, and constant inconveniences. What should have been a joyous and memorable stay left us severely disappointed and upset.||||I am heartbroken that such a special trip for my brother’s engagement was marred by so many failures on the hotel’s part.||||We have since contacted the hotel and they offered us a discount on our next stay as well as complementary sparking line and chocolates on arrival. We do not accept this as a resolution, we will not be staying again and chocolates and champagne were promised last time and never delivered. They have since stopped replying to...

Probably the most breathtaking views of the Gold Coast from the Sub Penthouse on the 72nd floor. Management and their priorities are somewhat lacking. ||Penthouses are spectacular but there is so much lacking. ||When I stay in a Penthouse, anywhere around the World, there are numerous standards which are expected with the price tag attached. ||1. I do not expect fake plants in the Penthouse, fresh flowers and a few real plants would be the norm with the daily rate paid.||2. Please don't micro manage me and tell me how to pack the dishwasher and tell me to put my rubbish down the shute before leaving. ||3. Please don't tell me to close all my windows if I'm on the balcony having a few drinks with friends and the noise level exceeds normal talking level. ||4. Please don't charge me $1500 if I'm cooking a steak and the smoke detectors activates because the exhaust fans are inadequate. ||5. Please don't tell me to put the furniture back the way it was when I checked in. Are your housekeeping staff all in wheelchairs or are you just taking the piss? ||What the Q1 doesn't tell you when your spending $$$ to stay here for a few days. ||The free form pools a spectacular but not heated, very cold and not particularly swimable even in April. ||There is a sign or warning above the heated spa indoors that they use numerous chemicals and not to put your head under the water and that the chemicals can bleach your swimwear. ||Room service is operated by an independent outlet called longboards. |You could be paying $$$ per stay but forget room service on a public holiday when they are closed. ||Q1 have a World class observation level on level 77 but forget getting a discount if your a guest in the hotel, you'll have to spend nearly $120 for a family of four to go to the observation level. ||My number One tip....|Make sure housekeeping actually clean the room is if possible stay there and supervise them as they will do the absolute minimum. ||I returned to the Penthouse 7201, from a day of shopping, the front door was opened and housekeeping were "servicing the room " I walked into the room to see housekeeping staff sitting on the lounge, watching TV and on their phone. 👏👏👏.||Needless to say I wasn't impressed. "Please, I said, there is some champagne in the fridge, help yourself. "||Q1, get with the program. Employ hospitality staff that are excited and dedicated, not filled with contempt for guests and are obviously employed on a basis of who they know not what they know. ||In summary, Q1, a World class location with incompetent staff. Room service closed on public holidays, housekeeping staff obviously have no interest being there. ||Don't go there expecting the Grand Hyatt even though prices are similar. ||Make sure you request housekeeping to actually utilise the vacuum, I know it will be a shock to them but it's nice to come back to a Penthouse without crumbs on the floor. ||Enjoy your stay at the Q1 but please take photos of the filth in the room and ridiculous signs warning about the mismanagement you pay...
